Title: A way out and up Post by: BanditVol on October 03, 2019, 09:40:04 EDT As I scan our remaining schedule, I see four SEC teams that range from mediocre at best, to downright bad. In loose order they are MSU, USC, Vandy and Kentucky (roughly best to worst). Given our talent level and how we did last season, there is no reason IMO we should not be able to beat any of those teams. Of course, I said the same about Georgia State and BYU. Also UAB is beatable. Yes, they are 3-1, but the 3 came against literally three of the worst teams in the country (and yeah, I know some think Tennessee belongs there also, but I don't think we should).
So five winnable games, but given that we lost to Georgia State, blew a sure win against BYU, and underperformed against UF, what makes me think we can do better? One thing. Everyone agrees that JG is underperforming (or just flat suxes, or whatever), and that this is a big part of our struggles. So what could turn the team around is leadership, say if Mauer plays well against Georgia and either gets the start against MSU or comes in very early and leads us to a win. We all know the first four games were wretched, but things need not continue in that way if something can change. And QBs can and do change the fortunes of teams. Just look how much better the Giants are with Eli benched. Anyway, just a thought. Title: Re: A way out and up Post by: SmokeyJoe on October 04, 2019, 02:27:05 EDT Agree. Appreciate the positivity. We know we are bad. But should have a shot in all those games. The young guys are only going to get better. We really need Pruitt & Co. to have some success. Another coaching search will not be helpful imo.
