Well, dang. He most likely cemented himself a permanent spot in UT football history.

That was not the play called....not even close. He should never see the field again. I'd put JJ back there before Gitmo would ever see the field at UT again.

It's past time to Gitshirt Gitmo.  He never needs to take another snap at UT.  Never.

This is sad.

LG pulls (and got a killer block), lead back and tailback both head toward the Mack truck sized hole left side.  Either JG  missed the call, had an option after seeing defense, or just decided to be a hero.  All 3 possibilities are not only unacceptable, but career ending for a redshirt Jr.  Incredibly frustrating, but on the positive side, I think we are beginning to see a football team.   I don't know how much flak JP will get for the facemask grab, but I think he should get a medal for restraint

He just as well inter that port authority or whatever they call it and move on.

As a buddy of mine posted on The Twatter earlier today, JG just surpassed Arian Foster as the currently most hated VFL.

I doubt he decided to "play hero", I think he either chose the wrong option or just didn't get the play.  Maybe we should have called timeout there, IDK, but yeah, totally unacceptable.

Realistically, he took a lot of blame for us just having a bad team the last two years, though he no doubt wasn't helping much, so I was glad he played well last week and (up to that point) this week in relief.  Good to have an experienced vet coming off the bench.

But he has finished himself with that play.  Ugh.... :banghead:

I get it. You are a glass half full guy - or at least that's the read I get. You look for the positive and I can respect that.

On this play, however, there is no excuse for what JG did. If he changed the play, he was the only one who knew it. If he didn't change the play, why not run the play that was called. I'm no football expert but even I could see that running what he tried to run had zero chance. It was completely idiotic.

As for his play last week, I think that he just didn't hurt the team. It seemed obvious to me that the coaches had no confidence in him and the play calling showed it - runs and short passes.

As for coming off the bench in the future, I am in the "He should be done" camp. I'll respect the coaching staff to make that call but I don't see how any of his offensive teammates could ever have any trust in him moving forward. I think that he is toast at UT.

But to address your post, I wasn't really trying to be glass half full, just found it hard to believe JG would "go rogue" and just do that on his own.  It just seems unlikely.

That was last night though.  Reading the player and CJP comments today, it seems more likely that he tried to audible and effed it up.

I agree that the end result is unacceptable.   

I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other as to whether he should be permanently benched.  I'm fine with whatever Pruitt decides.

Well as much as many of us never want to see JG again... the dilemma is we might need him.   :frown:

I will never be there.  Like the old saying goes, fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me a second, third, fourth, etc time, shame on all of us. 

We don't ever need to be shamed by that guy again.  I'd rather see JT Shrout, Spencer Smith, or Steven Orr under center in a situation that determines whether we go to a bowl game than to ever see JG on the field at Tennessee again.

Hell fire, put the other #2 at QB.  Taylor played a lot of snaps there in high school, too.  He showed me a lot more poise than JG ever has in 4 years, now.

Yep.  Saw him several times in high school.  But he's a totally different body style, now.  Just doesn't throw the ball well enough, from what the people I trust say.  He threw it "ok" in high school, although he rarely needed to, but he's much more muscle bound at this point and sort of shot puts the ball, much like Pookie Jones did.

As much as we dog Muschamp, he's still a pretty danged good defensive mind.  Give him an opportunity to scheme against a one dimensional offense and he likely shuts it down, or at least limits its effectiveness.  

Steven Orr Spurrier?  He's a bit old I think.   :naughty:

Pruitt also didn't commit one way or another which QB they'd go with if Mauer can't go.

"We'll see how this week goes" or something to that effect.  I took it as "we're going to try our best to get Shrout to a point where we feel we can win with him, I really don't want to play JG."
