Title: No more CBS and 4 hour games?? Post by: Tnphil on December 21, 2019, 02:21:06 EST Michael Smith @SmittySBJ NEWS: CBS exits talks w/ SEC. College football's highest-rated package probably going to Disney. SEC will make $250M-$300M more per year from premium package of 15 games. That means a raise of close to $20M per school or more whenever the new deal begins. 6:49 PM - Dec 20, 2019 Title: Re: No more CBS and 4 hour games?? Post by: droner on December 21, 2019, 03:19:40 EST Now I have to subscribe to Disney? I don't even have Netflix.
Isn't that going to reduce the number of viewers? Title: Re: No more CBS and 4 hour games?? Post by: Tnphil on December 21, 2019, 03:22:06 EST Not sure how it will work....But I bet we pay well for it.
Title: Re: No more CBS and 4 hour games?? Post by: BanditVol on December 21, 2019, 03:50:10 EST Doesn't that just mean that Disney owns ABC and ESPN? I mean, they do. So I'm thinking the premium games will be on ABC, not some Disney-specific channel.
I've always liked the series on CBS, I'll miss it. Title: Re: No more CBS and 4 hour games?? Post by: droner on December 21, 2019, 04:32:14 EST Doesn't that just mean that Disney owns ABC and ESPN? I can't imagine putting the biggest college fb games on a service to which most people don't get. Title: Re: No more CBS and 4 hour games?? Post by: Tnphil on December 21, 2019, 05:08:24 EST IIRC the CBS contract runs till 2023.

If not, that would pretty much give the Mouse a CFB monopoly, especially since they also own Fox now.

That would give the PAC-12 exposure during the day by playing noon PST games. Which is what Petersen has been talking about. I don't know how that would conflict with ESPN or the PAC-12 network. I don't get the PAC-12 network on Uverse anymore. Title: Re: No more CBS and 4 hour games?? Post by: Creek Walker on December 22, 2019, 09:57:09 EST I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. Not that I'm just in love with the CBS production of SEC football or whatever, but giving ESPN a monopoly on SEC football (or college football in general) is not a good thing. We've already seen what the SEC Network does for scheduling. Crummy time slots week after week. This will make it even worse.
