Title: Is it true that USCe has been scrimmaging and the Vols have not? Post by: volsboy on September 26, 2020, 07:47:03 EDT If so, that sucks. Have they even had any live contact in practice?

Post by: Black Diamond Vol on September 26, 2020, 11:03:35 EDT As has been discussed, this is going to be an issue all season. Knox Co. contact tracing regs are far more stringent than anywhere else in the SEC. If anyone tests positive, they and anyone who has been in their vicinity (even if they’re perfectly healthy) has to quarantine for 2 weeks. It’s put a serious crimp in our season prep. If we’re not able to hold a proper practice and everyone else is, this could be a wasted season.

Post by: Coupe De VOL on September 26, 2020, 11:56:29 EDT I haven't heard this - or I guess I did & it didn't sunk in - we have not been doing ANY full contact drills? If so, there is such a thing as being in "hitting" shape. It is a real thing for your muscles. If you are not in hitting shape, you can't go out there and hang 4 quarters with someone who is. Jesus Palominah...........

Jesus Palominah........... YES we have!Title: Re: Is it true that USCe has been scrimmaging and the Vols have not? Post by: Coupe De VOL on September 27, 2020, 12:03:44 EDT YES we have! THank goodness - it was kinda hard to believe. I don't think it is absolutely necessary to go full speed live 11 on 11, but it sure does help iron out any issues that can be addresses on film review. However, the lineman should be going full speed amongst each other 3 days a week or so outside of "camp". Title: Re: Is it true that USCe has been scrimmaging and the Vols have not? Post by: Black Diamond Vol on September 27, 2020, 12:52:18 EDT We have had a couple full-contact scrimmages, but they have been limited in their number of plays (~80 vs. ~140 for a normal scrimmage) and many players have had to sit them out.
Any way you slice it, we’re not practicing like our opponents are. Title: Re: Is it true that USCe has been scrimmaging and the Vols have not? Post by: BanditVol on September 27, 2020, 12:53:41 EDT Well, some hitting is better than none, that's for sure.
