He transferred from Michigan. I had hoped he might pan out. Sounds like he might be done now! Smh

That's a very detailed report.  IDK, it sounds to me like fairly typical late night drunk idiocy.  He put his hands on her, but in one case it was self defense.

Anyway, on a more hopeful topic, I am really wanting the Texas transfer that got injured last year lives up to his potential.

Attempted rape isn't typical late night drunk idiocy.

What I read did not indicate attempted rape, but choking, and fighting. He left, and she let him back in?  :dunno: Aggravated assault is a felony, and plenty bad enough. OTOH, the cops typically over-charge in my view. Still not a good look. I'd say he is done.

Quote
She told officers that she attempted to rush Mohan to her room to avoid waking up her roommates and that he tried to initiate sexual intercourse with her. She told officers that Mohan became aggressive toward her when she denied his advances.

The woman stated in the report that Mohan used one hand to grab her face and the other to choke her by the throat and pull her toward him. The woman told police she screamed and pulled away from Mohan's grasp, got out of bed to grab the iron on her desk and demanded that Mohan leave. She said Mohan was standing on her bed and refused to leave, at which time she went to the kitchen and got a knife.

If those details are true, it's the very definition of attempted rape. Are they true? Who knows. I kinda have my doubts. I'm not sure why a college girl is sneaking a college boy past her sleeping roommates and into her apartment for any reason other than sex. The victims are always afforded leniency with details when there are no witnesses. But all we have are her word vs. his word vs. what the police put in the report, so that's what I'm going on. If he tried to have sex, she said no, and he grabbed her by the throat...there's only one place that is leading. I guess my main point, though, is let's not try to excuse an alleged violent assault as just typical college boy drunkenness simply because he's a football player.

No it isn't. It's a drunk idiot making a clumsy pass at a woman who allowed him into her apartment late at night.

Attempted rape to me is forcing someone into a bed, holding them down, and taking them by force.  He did lay hands on her.  Did he attempt to forcibly remove her clothes?  No.  Did he use a weapon, or threaten to use a weapon?   No.  Did he beat her for refusing his advances?  No.

He tried to grab her a couple times and she fought him off.  I don't call that rape.  It may pass muster for sexual assault though, but there isn't even any indication that he touched her in a sensitive place.

I've heard of far worse.

I'm not saying he isn't stupid for doing it, and that he shouldn't be in trouble, but that's a far cry from rape IMO.

Most cases like this there is actual contact of the females body by digits or other body parts. Nothing even close to that occured here.

It seems that if you come to UT as a running back or linebacker you already have one foot out the door... :banghead:

Eh, okay. Choking a woman because she refuses your advances isn't a "clumsy pass." It's a felony.

I'll ask the same question that pissed Tom Osborn off when asked about Lawrence Phillips assault on a women...what if it was your daughter?

its assault for sure, and may well be a felony, but it's not rape strictly speaking.  Attempted rape maybe, but IMO that's a reach.

Here's the deal. What does "choking" mean?  That's what "she said".  It could be interpreted that he grabbed her head to kiss her and she fought him off.  It doesnt say he tried to choke her out for five minutes, seems it was a pretty quick action.

I'm not defending him, but this looks a lot more like drunken assault to me and not attempted rape and definitely not rape.

Drunken assault IS bad though.  Just in case you were wondering about my opinion on that.
