In a word, no.

They didn't come close to stopping it last year when (wrap your mind around this), Milton was the starter and the players were still adapting to the new system.  If you compare Bowling Green last year to Ball State this year, we have improved massively on offense and they couldn't stop us then.

Then the question is, did their defense improve?  From what I saw against West Virginia, that's a solid no from me.

We will find out soon enough, but I think we torch them.

I saw on a Pitt forum they think the have a stout front 7. I don't think its as good as they think it is. We will score. The question is how much they score. No way their offense is as good as it was last year.

Need to read more, and more varied analysis, including injuries to key personnel in the front 7

And we have an SEC officiating crew last year. Not that I expect any favors at all from them, but there's no way they can hose us as badly as that ACC crew did last year.

Well, I was attempting to force the troll to sdo some research on his own, since it appears he is too lazy to do so on his own

I expect nothing good from the SEC crew Saturday. (Remember the Ole Miss game last year...) But the ACC crew single-handedly changed the outcome of the game last year. Tennessee was simply not going to be allowed to win that game.

I rarely gripe about the officiating, with the exception of a few single calls here and there, because I figure it goes both ways.  Last year's game was exceptional in that it only went one way, and repeatedly.  It was a fizzleing joke!, and it absolutely made a difference in the game.  I don't know that I would go so far as to say "not allowed to win" but it was beyond a doubt completely one-sided.

I'm counting on the SEC guys to do a  much better job this year.

There were definitely some questionable calls in last years game - most notably for me was Hooker’s first down run that was ruled short. Having said that, if we complete half of the TD passes that were overthrown in the first quarter, the officials could not have had any bearing on the outcome of the game.

Absolutely correct....If you LET the refs make a decision that will beat you they will do it....Don't let them make that decision.

I completely agree and don’t have any more faith in SEC officiating crews than in any others.

I typically would agree with you guys, but the screw job last year by the ACC crew was so exceptionally bad I'm making an exception.  :powert:

Typically there is an awful call here and there that you can look back on...and sometimes you wonder if it might've changed the outcome of the game. Ole Miss and Perdue last year were two of those games. But that Pitt game was just one lopsided call after another. It was infuriating.

The real joke is any implication that the stripe shirts police themselves. The true nature of the game is that it goes faster than the eyes can differentiate. Stripe shirts are anachronistic to the game. They are a necessary EVIL. The trouble is too often they make themselves an unnecessary one. Basketball is the same way calling fouls and baseball with the expanding and contracting strike zone. They are designing cars with auto-pilot... The technology exists. Question is are we willing to turn the game over to that level of technology?

Yes.  But teams would figure out a way to game it, I am sure.  Also some calls are judgment calls like unecessary roughness or a personal foul in football. Hard to see a computer calling that.

from tos...

'Josh Heupel and Pitt are no strangers to each other. Saturday marks the fourth time Heupel and Pat Narduzzi have squared off with Pitt winning the last two meetings.

One thing that has occurred in every meeting between the two is that Heupel’s offense has scored. In 2018, Heupel’s UCF team won 45-14. In 2019, Heupel’s offense scored 34 in a loss and last year, the Vols scored 34 in a loss. History says Vols score Saturday.'
