Mertz is seemingly adequate whoever was doing the victory dance on the board in the preseason. Sorry. Still pissed about that run for TD. Really needed a stop there.   :banghead:

Who is Gibson? It is clear their plan is to keep UT off the field. Their "statute QB" ain't necessarily so!

Title: Re: Game Thread: Florida 2023
Post by: Black Diamond Vol on September 17, 2023, 02:42:05 EDT
I think the evidence is starting to point to this offense having a tough time in loud road environments. The loan exception would be LSU last year- but the turnover on the opening kick and Kelly's dumbass play calling took the crowd out of that game right away. Other than that, they've failed every time.

Title: Re: Game Thread: Florida 2023
Post by: PirateVOL on September 17, 2023, 02:42:38 EDT
We can?t tackle for squat
Our Mike is not up to SEC play
They are running away from Beasley
We played 5 corners, 2 stars and 2 safeties, one of whom has been too slow for SEC play for 5 years
Nobody is looking to contain the pocket, just going up field

On offense, I would play the starting OL the rest of the way
Wright is the best RB, and there is a large drop off from there
Our xfer slot looked lost - White is good, feed him the ball
Bru has been missing

If you re going to let 30 seconds run off the game clock, you have given up on your qb.

God I hate this, because Joe easily could've transferred out any time over the past two years. He stuck it out when most wouldn't have. But it's time. :frown:

The first half was par for the course for Milton, but he didn't give up 281 yards. Gotta make some personnel decisions on the back end.

There's nothing to lose in the second half. It's practice.

No, but if the D hadn't stayed on the field for 23 minutes or whatever, maybe they make a play or two on that last drive. There's not one personnel change you can make to turn the tide on D, but maybe you can do something elsewhere to keep them off the field a little more. :dunno:

We are not running our base offense

Castles playing better than Warren tonight

Gotta be the longest, and Castles looks better than the departed Fant or Warren.

At least we got points, and rested the defense.

Atrocious call

Also, there was a replay on the stoppage, and it occurred because an official kicked the ball while getting in position. There was no substitution.

And Hooker and Hyatt.
I suspect that last season, Hooker and the receivers could read the pre-snap defense and they all knew where the routes needed to go and where the plays were going. I think they were all able to get on the same page before the ball was snapped. I don?t think that this crew has that ability.
