In a game like this, sideways passing is just empty calories. We're not going to win SEC games unless we take some shots downfield. That attempt to Keyton was on-target (encouraging), but their guy had good coverage.

You are absolutely correct, but UT has always utilized the sideways passing game along with short slants. I'm no expert, but I could see those routes being utilized to open up longer routes just like the run game.

Yes, and it appears that's just what happened. They've taken a couple shots now since I posted that. I've seen pretty much all I needed to see from Milton. Maybe give him one more series, then put Niko in (and let him fling it).

How did we not have our foot on the floor the last series? That's very uncharacteristic.

On the second to last series Lane appeared to botch second down and Kariv seemed to blow up third down.

I think we can be dynamic if some pieces get right.

Defense has played well, a couple of small breakdowns but bring consistent pressure and for the most part the coverage has been good

In the first half we looked like a lot of things had been improved. The second half sucked. I would like to chalk that up to having a big lead and playing subs but I guess we won't know until next week.
