If Gaston Moore is gone who is the backup next year?

Merklinger or a transfer (if we can get one, which is unlikely).

Don't we have some highly ranked QB coming in? If so we might have another true freshman backup QB next season.

Jake Merklinger. And I think freshman and/or walk-on backup QBs are just going to be a fact of life now with the portal. Any QB with prospects who is blocked on the depth chart after a year is going to go looking for greener pastures elsewhere.
