Good concert!
ZZ Top is winding down a bit, for sure not as tight without Dusty
Glad I got to see them one last tine (1st time was ~49 years ago)

Skynyrd did not dissapoint
This is their 50 year tour and it doesn't seem that long since I first saw them
I didn't get to see their Street Survivors tour because an aircraft crash got in our way (paraphrase of my favorite song (and 3rd favorite LS all time) on that album, What's that Smell, staring Prince Charming (Rossington)
Saw them a couple of times before and after Wilkeson's death
First time since Powell and Rossington's deaths (miss Powell as Keys just doesn't have his flair at the keyboards IMO)
As you can tell, I am a proud member of Skynyrd Nation

Would have loved to been around to have seen these great bands back in their prime.

Met Rickey Medlock when he was with Blackfoot. They were playing in Johnson City and staying at a hotel a friend of mine parents owned in Bristol. He gave me a swig of his moonshine in a mason jar. He was a down to earth guy. I've seen Skynrd many times. They are here every year at the Sturgis Rally playing the Buffalo Chip. I love Skynrd but I think Blackfoot rocked harder than they did. Medlocke was a great front man and singer, not to mention badassed guitar player. Another good Skynrd spinoff was The Rossington Collins Band. They were great. Saw them open up for Charlie Daniels in Johnson City. Aww man the good old days.  We are all getting old fellas.

By the end of Freebird I felt I was in Blue Oyster Cult:  "My ears will melt, then my eyes ..."
For those unfamiliar with BOC, that line is from Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll, which is my favorite song from them
(The wife hates it when I play Cities on Flame as I attempt to find numbers above 10 on the volume dial)

The opening act was Black Stone Cherry
Wasn't fond of them at all
Their drummer seemed to think that banging the drums as hard as he could was the proper way to play them (spoiler alert, it is not)

Love BOC. They can still sound pretty good. Their new 50 anniversary Live Album is good. Pretty underrated group. When Bouchard died it was a jolt for them. I saw them at MSG when my dad worked at the World Trade Center. That's their stomping grounds. Dang, that was back in the On your Feet or On your Knees days I think. BTW, I ain't a total d@#khead. Just mostly. LOL

In a change of pace, tonight I am WORKING the Dan & Shay concert
Most likely will not enjoy it, at all
But it IS a paycheck

Also, for a factoid
Last night Skynyrd was LOUDER than Disturbed, a heavy metal band
Heard complaints on the way to the car. 
Said there was destortion?
In reality they overdrove the base at times during ZZ Top, causing the camera to shake
Any time you drive the base over Gibbons on guitar that is a VERY bad thing!

In the end, I just smiled and noted I enjoyed ALL of the concert  :naughty:

Not a huge fan of BOC, they are a bit too literally "cult" for me.  I used to think that Don't Fear the Reaper advocated teen suicide, but then I read an interview where the lead singer said it just means literally what it says...don't fear death.  Doesn't mean its not a pretty creepy song though.   :laugh:

Burnin for You is a great song...don't know many other BOC songs. 

I might give Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll a listen, since you tout it so highly.
