NFL didn't draft black QBs back really back in that day. Shular did start a season or two, but didn't amount to much. I think this is very common. Can't think of many schools that have a lot of successful quarterbacks. Oddly, Purdue is one. Griese (BOB, to be clear), Len Dawson, Drew Brees, Mike Phipps, Jim Everett, Kyle Orton, and I'll even throw in Mark Hermon, though a great college QB, not sure he ever made it in the NFL. Purdue is "Quarterback U" even though their overall success at football has been sketchy to say the least. |
