Title: Re: Bill Walton has passed away.at 71 Post by: volsboy on May 28, 2024, 10:42:57 EDT Arguably the best college player of all-time. He was one of my favs. He was also a hoot as an announcer. Injuries derailed his pro career but he was still a great pro. That game in the NCAA tourney against Memphis State was one of the all-time great individual performances. He could beat you so many ways. He marched to his own drummer though.
Title: Re: Bill Walton has passed away.at 71 Post by: BanditVol on May 30, 2024, 01:19:43 EDT I wasn't impressed with him as an announcer, other than he had a lot of funny stories (for instance, the time Kareem knocked out a couple of his teeth with an elbow). I was watching a Pac 12 game a few years ago, and he said "the Pac 12 is the greatest conference, I stand by that".
So, he would say silly things like that. I liked him, but I would not say he was a "good" announcer, other than as a comedian. |
