Title: The power is back...And I'm back.........
Post by: droner on October 01, 2024, 04:28:22 EDT
The power went out at about 7:30 Friday morning. I got up at about 7.45. I looked out at the creek level and the trees blowing in the wind and figured I had slept through the worst of it. After all, the local weather girl said that the storm would be moving out at about 8:30 AM. She was incorrect.

The wind got much worse and the creek got higher.

Fortunately I suffered no damage. I was luckier than many folks in this area and much luckier than the people like those in Chimney Rock, NC.

The power came back on this afternoon at about 4:30. I've been eating dinner each night with friends who have a gas stove. I took wine each night.

My liver congratulates the dedicated utility workers who restored our power.

Hot Springs, NC just up the road from me (Newport, TN) suffered catastrophic damage like many others.

We never lost power at my house but no city water and they?re saying it could be WEEKS before it?s restored.    :wtf:

If the Lord is willing and the Creek don't rise.   :naughty:

True story...that saying originated in bama in the 1800s, because the Creek did rise a few times.  The Indian variety of "creek".  Most interpret it as the stream version, but it was originally meant of Native American unrest.
