Title: I'd say the playoffs are hurting the conf championship games Post by: Tnphil on December 06, 2024, 04:05:01 EST All before fees....Copied from tos.
SEC $97 ACC $47 B12 $36 B10 15 freaking bucks Title: Re: I'd say the playoffs are hurting the conf championship games Post by: droner on December 06, 2024, 05:34:47 EST Perhaps this is a good reason to do away with the conference championship games.
The argument isn't as strong as it is for the conference championship games for basketball. But, it's worth considering. Rece Davis is probably right about one thing. When it comes to the playoffs, the teams should be seeded, regardless of who wins the conference championship game. I am against auto-bids for conferences because i prefer the 12 best teams. The weak conferences champs would not beat half the SEC teams. I say use the old BCS format and conferences be damned. A committee deciding is a joke. I would even be okay with using the AP poll and take the top 12 ranked teams no; matter what conference they are from.

That will NEVER happenThe P4 conferences will ALWAYS get auto bids, it is baked in Follow the $$$$ Deal with it Title: Re: I'd say the playoffs are hurting the conf championship games Post by: volsboy on December 07, 2024, 08:34:00 EST Until they quit giving conference champs auto bids we will still have to have it. If one is not ranked in the top 12 they don't get in. There are a lot of better teams that would be left out. Auto-bids are not the answer.

I read a good article that said make the conference championship games play in games....Today Bama could have played Ole Miss..Winner is in and the loser is out.
Title: Re: I'd say the playoffs are hurting the conf championship games Post by: JeffCountyVolFan on December 08, 2024, 03:58:13 EST Four conferences with 20 teams/2 dividions
.... the 10 teams in each division all play each other (the other 3 games don't affect division standings) .... the 2 division winners play in the conference championship Conference championship winners get first round home games against a runner-up from another conference. The 8 first round winners play it off. No committee. No polls needed. No bias affecting the playoff field. Win your division and you are in. Let the players/coaches decide it on the field. It will never happen but it makes the most sense to me. |
