Title: The longest 5 seconds Post by: PirateVOL on March 02, 2025, 04:50:18 EST Time 0:
Cade on 2 guarding inbounds Okpara on 8 at the SEC logo Chaz on 15 at top of the key Gainey on 1 (Sears) Left extension of FT line Shack on 4 about 10' left side Time 1 sec: Chaz face guarding 15 (almost kissing distance) Sears and 4 standing around watching Time 2 Sec: 8 sets an ILLEGAL moving screen with a hip check thrown in on Chaz as 15 breaks to the basket (the hip check forced Chaz into 15 causing him to stumble) Sears and 4 STILL standing around watching Time 3 Sec: Chaz moving to front 15 under the basket 2 moves to inbound to 15 (too late), Cade puts hand out to block pass, Chaz gets in front Sears and 4 STILL standing around watching 8 starts to circle around to set a screen for Sears Time 4 sec: 8 and 4 set a screen for Sears who moves to left wing and towards the corner Shack SWITCHES out to cover Sears (who never really was open and never made the corner (till the inbounds pass was released) Chaz still in front of 15, who looks up court for some reason After setting screen 4 starts to move out to the upper wing Time 5 sec: Shack on Sears like stink on crap Time 5.4 sec: Okpara and 4 in a man hug under the basket Shack leaves Sears to head out to 4 Sears looking towards 4, not 2 Oh, and Chaz still fronting 15 Gainey turns to go out (should of headed for the corner to cover Sears IMO) In summary: The play was intended to go to 15 for a shot at the basket but 2 hesitated and CHaz with outstanding defense, assisted by Cade stopped that Bamer then waited at least a second too long to run option 2 which was to get Sears open on the left wing or corner. In reality that would not have worked because Shack switched and was in Sears' face. Bottom line just out freaking standing DEFENSE by the VOLS! If you compare our under the basket inbound against aTM and this one there is a night and day difference in plan and how it was attacked and executed We went with option 2 and option 3 was in progress They went with option 1, waited for option 2 and really had no option 3 Hell, with the way Chaz was fronting 15, if he cuts the baseline to the right he is open and their center delayed breaking out to be an outlet Sears wasn't sharp on his cut either Piss poor design and even worse execution Oh, and for the record, Shack released the ball with between .45 and ..5 seconds remaining  |
