1) The return of Gaspipe means we need depth. 2) Bringing in a presumed starter means Merklinger has been deemed to not be the answer. If a guy off the street can learn enough to start in four months he's a prodigious talent or the current options are subpar. I'm pulling for the first scenario, with newly freed funds going to other position groups. Nothing should be planned with Brandon in mind.
