Title: Weather forecast for Saturday.
Post by: Inspector Vol on September 12, 2011, 01:49:31 EDT
While it will be muggy and warm it wont be brutally hot. Still be hard on our lack of depth but it could be worse. Our defense will have to answer the bell for us to have a shot. UF is still running the spread option some they just aren't using Brantley to do it.

Biggest weakness for us is our lb's trying to keep up with Rainey and Demps. Expect to see lots of passes to the rb's. They are the two best playmakers they have and they have been feeding them the rock. I would too, just like we do with Hunter and Rogers.

If we could run the ball I would have some confidence. As it is I think we may play well for 3 quarters and then fade in the 4th due to depth and youth because we cannot pound the ball.

Quote
Saturday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 87.

Saturday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65.

A gator fan I was talking to today said their secondary is their weakness...they start 2 FR and 2 Soph.  I didn't realize that.  If so, I say we pass pass and pass some more and make it a high scoring game.

The biggest concern that Gator fans seem to have is that youth in the secondary. We have similar concerns but we are a better throwing team. So far they have had a great running game though.

I'm going to try my best not to analyze things past that this week because I believe that neither team will know what their strengths and weaknesses really are until that game is over. We have a shot at them and that's enough for me.

Their corners are all 6'0" or less as well. That may come in handy.

But we all know they are going to be great athletes so hopefully Bray will be smart with the ball.

They also did not get a single sack vs. UAB.  Interesting.

I think UAB has a get-rid-of-the-ball kind of offense like Montana runs. It's hard to get sacks when every pass is gone in less than 2 seconds. I also bet they weren't showing much as far as blitzes are concerned. I'm not counting on their pass rush being weak.

You can bet boom will bring the kitchen sink. He won't lay back and let Bray survey the field. Of course if they get pressure with 4 we will struggle.

Also they were missing a really good player in Floyd.

So far Bray has impressed me by being decisive and getting rid of the ball quickly for the most part.  Again, you have to consider the competition.  But whether or not there was a pass rush, the ball has been getting out of there pretty quickly.

A couple of passes against Montana he held onto the ball.  He did not have that issue against Cinti.

The thing that impressed me against Cinti was how early he was releasing the ball - several times before the receiver came out of his break.  Very good anticipation on timing, though at least once he and Rogers were a bit out of sync but even then the ball was thrown where only Rogers could have caught the ball.
