They could sell for as much as $2 billion. Might need some Haslam help, or Fred Smith, or something comparable ;)

I checked my petty cash fund and I'm just a little short.

I guess all the Manning loyalists would love the Titans then! :patriot:

Can he do that and be UT's coach at the same time?  Because that's happening too, ya know. :dcool:

Yeah, Peyton is going to start out at the bottom as the QB coach, kiss the asses of snot nosed primadona high school prospects and their unrealistic parents, and work his way up.  He'll love kissing dumb ass boosters asses, too.    Yeah, I can see that.  Hope everybody who reads this has their sarcasm detector turned on, by the way.

And I also see Peyton as not being stupid.  He won't leverage everything he has to buy a piss poor franchise like the Titans.

I see Peyton staying in football, but on his terms.  He will basically be able to choose which path he takes.  If he stays with an organization I see it as a GM type.  I could also see him in TV.  He'd be the highest paid analyst in history, and it would still leave him time to be a family man, and tend to his business interests, which include a significant number of Papa John's franchises.

My guess is that he ends up going the TV route.  He already has more money than he will ever need in 10 lifetimes.  He has invested very well during his career.  It's my feeling that he will take time to enjoy his family while they are still young enough to enjoy, much as Archie and Olivia did.

Peyton is a smart and reasonable guy.

They've had some nice success, but not much recently. If it involves a sell, then the entire organization would be made over again. The alleged/rumored role would be similar to Elway's in Denver. I could care less either way, but I wouldn't discount it based on your reasoning. Nashville is on the move. Our flagship city. No reason Titans can't succeed with right ownership.

Ever since Floyd Reese split they haven't done as well. Plus successive busts on 1st round qb picks... oh well. need the right mix of ownership/front office/coaching & players.

Locker might be the biggest vagina in the history of the NFL!

While I agree that the notion of Peyton buying the Titans is absurd, there's really no such thing as a piss-poor NFL franchise these days.  As long as you have a halfway decent stadium, owning an NFL team is basically a license to print money.  So that includes pretty much everyone but the Raiders. :dunno:

Agree. I don't know where it came from that he was going to outright buy them. The rumor is part owner, very high level front office position.

Not talking about financially.  Talking specifically about being piss poor from a competitive standpoint.  They are "our" Titans, but the Titans are an awful franchise from the top to the bottom.  There is nothing appealing about them.  I simply don't see Manning getting involved simply because they have the word "Tennessee" in their title.  He is way too competitive in his thinking, in my opinion.

I agree that it would be a long shot for Manning to buy into the Titans. But it might change my interest level in the team. He's such a good guy that I can't help but root for him to do well. On the other hand, the attitudes of the non-Vol Titans fans who would inevitably sneer at us new Titans fans and call us bandwagoners would probably just drive me away again.

I wouldn't be to quick to discredit this.  Remember, he loves the state.  He almost signed with the titans when he chose Denver.  His wife is from Memphis and their family is a very successful and wealthy in real estate.  I guarantee you her family knows Fred Smith personally.  Also, Peyton and his wife bought a minor stake in the Memphis Griz when they opened up miniority ownership in the team.  It was a small %, but they still did it.  Also, with the popularity of Nashville and the money that is pouring into that city, if you get the correct ownership in there, it would be a cash cow.  They have already proven that when good, the city and surrounding areas will support it.  They have also proven that with the right ownership and GM, they can be competitive.  Yes, the titans are a dumpster fire right now, but with the correct pieces, they can be competitive.

I tend to agree. There's no reason the Titans cannot be a great franchise — especially if the state is unified behind the team, and if Peyton's mug is seen on TV every Sunday afternoon from the press box or the sideline, the state is going to be unified behind the team.
