Title: So I just got a "save the date" for the wedding of a girl I used to work with...

...on October 24.  I mean, really?

And she claims to be a Vol fan.

We haven't remained that close, so I probably wouldn't have gone anyway.  But still, WTF?  I'll be sending regrets, and I'm seriously considering writing a note in the margin that says "Have you even MET me?"

It's a good plan to save money on the reception.

I have made it clear to my friends and their children. No weddings for me on Saturdays during football season unless it's an open date for the Vols. And even then I don't like it. Get married in June like you're supposed to.

Yep.  That shizzle might fly up north, but not in this part of the country.  It's just rude.  IMO, anyone who would do that doesn't really want you to show up, they just want you to send a gift.  I mean I can skip it, guilt-free.  But what about the close friends and family (those who are obligated to go) who are football fans?  What if UT pulls off the upset (and they just might)?  Those people are going to regret missing it for the rest of their lives.

There are about 40 other Saturdays in the year when you can get married.  Have some consideration for others. :frown:
