...that came in today's email (for me, anyway)?  They're wanting our input on the stadium renovations.  Looks like more "premium" seating areas are coming.  Which means capacity is probably going to drop again.  And just as demand is going back up. :frown:

It. Was. Long. With ticket revenue generating a lower percentage of revenue than TV and merchandise, I think it's important to have some seats be loss leaders - sort of. The next generation must get to the stadium. Have super cheap tickets for some games (already done to some degree) for them.

The long-term viability of the AD depends on this. Cost is a bigger factor than comfort for attendees with children.

I tried, but it would not let me. Kept saying my e-mail was incorrect. Funny that it was that email account they sent the survey to.

BTW, one of the areas they're talking about putting this premium seating is at the very top of the South EZ.  Worst seats in the house, where visitors currently sit.  So apparently they would move visitors seating closer to the field to make room for it.  I'm sure all of our SEC brethren will return the favor when we visit them.  Or not. :frown:

Yes, and there are also write-in sections where I was sure to mention that, along with our terrible parking situation.

I noted the cell service, but am cool with the parking. It's an easy walk from downtown.

I did too.....wish there were parking available for people like me with severe arthritis in my feet and unable to walk.....without a big donation to get a parking pass....not considered disabled, but cannot handle the walking anymore. 

Finally go to and filled out the survey. It was long and I almost lost the will to live before I got to the end. I do not even have to read between any lines to realize the price to attend games at Neyland is going up, up, up. My only beef is with the new SECNetwork contract is you cannot make plans for game day because you cannot plan on a start time because you do not know which network will carry it. Is it noon? 12:30? 3:30? 4:00? 5:00? 7:00? 7:30? At least at home, I always have the same seat.

I haven't seen the survey but if anyone was expecting it to lean towards fan convenience or making it more economical then they haven't been paying attention over the last several decades. For me, gameday doesn't have to be a life changing event, it just needs to include a victory.

To answer midtnvol, I did not mean to imply that I ever harbored any illusion that tickets and supporter costs were not going to drastically increase. In the fill in the blank "What improvements would increase your stadium/fan experience?" I answered at least put a competitive team on the field that has a chance to win. Win more games and it will not matter what improvements are done. But in the veal to modernize the stadium, they cannot forget the loyal fans that may not have money to invest $25,000 or more a year in a seat. The loyal fan that came year-in and year-out when they stunk. Because if you depend on the big money donations too much, that money will dry up each time the economy tanks.

But this stadium does need major upgrades because there are parts that are older than I am and showing age badly. So improvements need to be a mix of affordable seats, mid-range, and high-end ones. If they do not mix in a blended approach, a lot of fans will stop buying when the Vols are down again when the economy is bad. My comment is based on my impression that the survey was weighted toward the very high cost ticket. And unless the Vols stay in contention for an East title past the second league game, crowds wand money will dry up. If they do not beat Florida and Bama in the same year soon, Hart can forget selling high cost seating. He will not sell Corporate box seats because no company in the area is doing that anymore. And the people in Knoxville are to cheap to pay big money for an inferior product.

fix the infrastructure and join the modern freaking world with cel or WIFI coverage!!   :box:

I've said it before, but they'd probaby be better off just demo-ing the current stadium and building a "new" Neyland across the river.  There would be plenty of space for parking, and they could design it from the ground up to include all the premium seating and updated technology (and actual green grass!) they want.  Because the current place is nearly 100 years old and just doesn't have the infrastructure to support it all.  I realize this will never happen, though.  I'm just saying. :dunno:

The day is coming soon, though- someone somewhere is going to build a new stadium with nothing but luxury suites.  When you watch a game there on TV, you'll hear no crowd noise, and the field or court will just be surrounded by walls of glass.  It's coming.  :frown:
