Title: Almost 6 rounds in the books, and...
Post by: Black Diamond Vol on April 30, 2016, 11:31:54 EDT
We're on the verge of going 2 straight years with no one drafted, unless someone picks up Magitt or North late.  Thanks again, Dools. :bird:

At least this should be the last year of this BS.

NFL Network said this earlier this afternoon. "In the past 2 years Germany has had more players drafted than the University of Tennessee".  :bird:

Sheesh.  The Titans couldn't even throw the home team a bone with their "Mr. Irrelevant" pick. :frown:

Would have to think if Maggitt had been healthy and Sutton and JRM had come out we would have had 1 or more drafted.

Sure.  And that's a double-edged sword.  The bad news is we had no one drafted.  And the good news is we had no one drafted.

Still, a program like ours has no business getting shut out for two straight years (coming off a 50 year streak of NOT getting shut out), even if all our underclassmen do come back.  Just shows how low this program had sunk, and the enormous rebuilding job Butch took on when he got the job.

And this is just further proof: Derek Dooley was the worst coach in modern SEC history.  Period.  Say what you want about Muschamp or whoever, but it's Dooley, and it's not even close. :frown:

Says a lot about Dooley't talent evaluation, and also says a lot that we have won 2 straight bowls playing essentially freshmen and sophomores

Dooley's "evaluations" went something like this:

"I really like this kid.  Who else is recruiting him?"
"Bama, Florida, OSU, Texas, and USC."
"Well, we can't compete with that.  Let's take this local kid from Seymour instead."
"Are you sure we can beat out MTSU and Ball State for him?"
"It'll be tough, but we'll just have to chance it." :frown:

The very vocal crowd that likes to scream about how quickly other programs have turned things around fail to adjust for how low ours was compared to similar situations.  In some cases, it's worse, like the comparisons with Ole Miss last year early in the season when Ole Miss was on their fourth year and even they had more talent left.

Yes, Dooley was bad.  No question about it.
