Watching Reggie Cobb's highlights made me think of two things.
1) I love Cobb, but had forgotten how good he was.
2) His OL blocked with precision and tenacity.

Re #2: As did the WRs

I get all emotional watching the OL block like that.....Been years since we've seen that.

Fulmer was a helluva an OL coach.  Then a really good OC.  And for about 10 years, a really good HC.  Hope his tenure as AD goes as well as the first 20 or so years he spent at UT.

We did a lot of pitch sweep action, lots of pulling tackles & guards into space
Screens worked much  better than they have in YEARS, because OL hustled, got into space and actually hit somebody when they got there - saw one play where the DB was cringing before the guard hit him

Yep! In the day our screen plays were a thing of beauty and there was a convoy of blockers leading the way. The last several years we run a screen and lose 3 yards :banghead:

I remember various former TN O-linemen talking about how they would break the huddle, come to the line and tell the D-lineman "We're running the ball right here, and there's nothing you can do about it."   :dude:

The mobility of the OL was tremendous. Those guys could operate in space.

And like Pirate noted, WR blocking made a huge difference.

Our WRs did a better job of blocking last season......Didn't matter because the OL was getting the QB and RBs killed in the first 3 steps.

I'm hoping it's better this  year, but our current OL is just about as inexperienced as last year.  We did recruit quite a bit of talent, I read that we had the best OL recruiting in the nation, but they will take awhile to get up to speed.  We might have a good OL next season, but I think we still struggle this year, unfortunately.
