IMO that's dumb until this gets better controlled.

If the spread of this can be slowed, the medical facilities have a chance to treat more people who are infected. If the spread accelerates, triage will be required and more people will have to go untreated. As bad as it is, I think cancelling events is the proper strategy.
I'm watching all of the NCAA hoops I can tonight because I would not be too surprised if tonight might end up being the finish to the season. As some of y'all are saying, these cancellations won't stop the spread, but they will slow the spread. I guess there is value in that. Get rid of anything that is not critical - it is probably a good rule of thumb. If they can create some kind of inoculation for this bug, it could literally save millions of lives in this country alone. I don't think that is overstating things. I just hope the toilet paper in the house doesn't run out.
