Title: we are suprisingly 21st in scoring defense
Post by: BanditVol on September 21, 2021, 12:27:58 EDT
Yeah, that's a strong function of having BG and particularly Tech on the schedule.  The important point is that Pitt scored 41.

Florida likely will make us look bad, but at least I think the DE that had to sit out (Young?) will be back.  That may help.

I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts on what our defensive issues were with Pitt?  I'm aware that we kept giving short and mid distance routes over the middle, but why?  Were they exploiting our LBs, something in the scheme, or...?

Whatever it was, I am sure Mullen has seen the film and will exploit the crap out of it.

We've done better than expected defensively. This group has a low ceiling, but can hit it with continued good tackling.

Laughing at this one.

Bowling Green and Tennessee Tech.

The only real offense we saw in Pitt put 41 on us.

Perfect example of how statistics can flat out lie.

I'm sure some of the SEC teams will change that statistic pretty fast. Ole Miss had 61 against Tulane. Tulane is not terrible. UGa's offense is not a juggernaut yet. Hope they wait until after they play us to figure it out.

Oklahoma barely beat Tulane then OM beat Tulane like a drum....Odd.

Not odd.  Happens all the time.  Team A beats Team B who beats Team C, then Team A loses to Team C.

I made the same point about Pitt so we agree.  Hell may well freeze over.
