How do we not spy Corral on 3rd and long?

Theory: our players aren't used to this environment and are a tad too juiced.

Carvin should have had a personal foul on the sack
He did a flop after the play on a DL

Banks was out on their TD slung an old piss player down after the play before

Title: Re: Game Thread: Ole Miss

Getting whipped at right tackle.  We can't run to that side now either.

Cooper out, Cade out, and we were thin on the OL when the season started.

Not having Evans in the backfield is also a big setback, imo.

Add to that, Corral is killing us with his legs.

Lets GO VOLS!!!!

Title: Re: Game Thread: Ole Miss
Post by: murfvol on October 17, 2021, 03:05:07 EDT
Corral was definitely in, but Jackson held up to avoid the penalty. Otherwise Ole Miss is short of the mark.

They haven't said but that's kind of what it looked like when they helped him off the field.

Should have burned another 60 seconds after it became 2nd and 17. When it became apparent they'd get one more possession you have to run some clock.

Title: Re: Game Thread: Ole Miss
Post by: murfvol on October 17, 2021, 03:40:23 EDT
It could have been worse. Three yards and a cloud of dust may not be a terrible option for the second half.

In fairness, the D only gave up 17 if you take out points from the muffed punt.

Gotta spy on 3rd and long instead of blitzing.

Hooker has to make a throw on that third down, imo.  You have to give a receiver a chance to make a play or get a PI call.  Running it out of bounds and having 4th and 27 was not the correct play, imo.

Shoulda used Bailey there.  It’s a drop back type play anyway and Milton is just too much of a head case to rely on.

Heupel must have made it crystal clear that you are throwing the ball, your are not throwing it away, and you will throw into coverage if necessary

Dam, that didn't even occur to me.  Not a terrible idea.
