Title: Bru McCoy speaks
Post by: PirateVOL on September 25, 2022, 04:52:06 EDT
I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I got here, in the best possible way. I couldn't imagine the noise, the environment, all of it. Coming here is the best decision I've ever made.

Now just imagine the Alabama game if we beat LSU in two weeks.

Fun fact: Tennessee and Alabama haven't met as undefeateds since 1989.

That's crazy....seems like it would have happened somewhere along the line, but I guess either they weren't any good or us, and that reversed circa 2007.

Would love to see it.

Attended the 1989 game my senior year, they had an RB (Sirhan Stacy I think) that just ran all over us, but CJM pulled Stirling Hinton and replaced him with Andy Kelly, which was actually a good move.  Had Kelly started the game, who knows.

It was close in 2016, but we lost in double OT to TAMU the week before. The last time Tennessee was undefeated going into that game was 1998, but Alabama was 4-2 with losses to Florida and Arkansas.

I was at that TAMU game also...very exciting, hated that we lost such a close game.  The injuries to our line and whole team in that game were head shaking...I think it might not be an exaggeration to say an even dozen, with at least half having to leave the game for good

That game marked the peak of the Butch era. All downhill from there.  What was surprising was how fast it went downhill.

A game we had no business loosing
