I think the administration is a bigger hurdle than any NCAA concerns. He has paid the penalty. I'd be fine with it if it could be possible.
I think both would be an issue. We know about the UT administration's stance, but many within the inner workings and powers that be in college basketball are not fond of Pearl from his past histories with them. Some in those positions could make things really hard on UT (or whoever were to hire him) if they were to bring back Pearl. And while I was once dead set on not rehiring him, I am now pretty much in the same boat as my good friend Pirate is - I would be ok with bringing him back, but with very tight leash attached.

I think Auburn made him the $$$$$$$$$ Bagman!!!!!!!
And you honestly believe that there was no $$$$$$ involved when he was able to sign the Big 3 out of Georgia when he was recruiting for UT. Take off the orange colored glasses.

I'm trying to remember- did Hamilton hire Cuonzo, or was he hired during the period between ADs? The first mistake Hart needs to avoid is sending boosters a letter saying they're going after big names like Jamie Dixon and Jay Wright, only to sign a mid major guy less than a week later. Don't get people's hopes up if you can't deliver. In the fan's eyes, that stacked the deck against Martin before he even coached his first game. ![](https://volstothewall.com/board/Smileys/default/frown.gif) Hamilton hire. He is the gift that keeps on giving. ![](https://volstothewall.com/board/Smileys/default/1banghead.gif)

Well, the USAFA is a country club compared to West Point. Some Cadets/Middies do a semester "exchange" at other service academies and the USAFA Cadets who come to West Point generally have trouble keeping up with the physical demands. The Fly Boys just can't handle it very well.

If Army wants to be competitive then they need to lift thte height/weight restrictions just like the Air Force and Naval Academies have. It's one nthing to be competitive, another thing to go into a fight with one hand tied behind your back. Army brass has always had their collective heads up their hind end and always will. I say that as a proud Army retiree!.
Yep. At the risk of it sounding like an excuse, it's really not a level playing field. Navy and the USAFA can recruit prospects that the USMA can't. Hgt/wgt restrictions, plus medical restrictions in place for admission to West Point are waived at USMA and USAFA. And I understand the reasoning - being a Army soldier takes much more stringent physical demands (and that's reality) than it does serving in the Navy or Air Force. It's a double edge sword.

I have a friend who follows the inner happenings of the UT basketball program as closely as anyone I know, and he is convinced that Cuonzo Martin will have at least one more season, perhaps two, regardless of what happens the rest of the way this year.
I hope he's wrong. I didn't get season tickets because I was afraid of what we're now seeing. I did pick up some individual game tickets for some after Christmas games for my son as a gift, but at this point I'm not even looking forward to attending those games. I suppose something might change, but I have no confidence in that after 2.5 seasons. Cuonzo's teams will always beat a team or two they shouldn't and leave everyone feeling good about them. But they'll always lose a few games they shouldn't, too, and play the same old brand of boring offense. I'm okay with boring offense if wins are the end result. We all tolerated Kevin O'Pottymouth, who played the most boring brand of basketball since they began using steel rims instead of peach baskets, because he helped bring the program back just a bit from the dark ages of Wade Houston. But Cuonzo's teams have consistently under-achieved. Does anyone feel even the least bit excited about next season with Jordy Mac and possibly Stokes gone?
I don't see how the powers that be can bring back Cuonzo if he fails to make the tourney again this year. Pre-Pearl apathy began to set in last year, and with no tourney again this year it will get even worse. Don't think the program can survive another year of non-tourney Cuonzo.

People who don't follow basketball that closely look at the team's record and say, "What's the big deal?" But so far -- with the exception of the Xavier rematch in the Bahamas -- we've lost the only 2 "resume builder" games on the schedule, along with that inexcusable loss to UTEP.
Well, considering that the SEC is really down in the RPI rankings, and the fact that those 3 "resume builders" represent a third of the games we've played thus far, loosing all 3 of those is a pretty big deal when it comes to making the NCAAs as an at large. Road wins make teams at large NCAA teams. We can't just win home games over teams we should beat at home and have a chance to make the tourney.

Not on every single play....
And Clawson's offense didn't do it on every single play, either. That whole argument was so discombobulated it was pathetic. 99.9% of those blaming Clawson and his offensive line philosophy had no clue of what the OL was actually doing. It wasn't rocket science.

Yep. He wants to play in a pro style offense that he fits a lot better in than the Stoops/Brown spread. He's not redshirted yet, so he can use his sit out year as a redshirt year and still have two years' eligibility left.

What was Clawson supposed to do in one year with a whole new system? Plus he had that silly o line rotation thing going...which we were supposed to accept because...get this....high school teams do it! Seriously that was an argument offered to defend Clawson.
Yeah, it was such a silly thing that Phillip Fulmer his frickin' self did the same damned thing part of the time he was the offensive line coach and OC at UT. Believe it or not, a lot of college teams, and even some NFL teams flip their offensive linemen in some situations. It's not that unusual, and it's really not that hard to comprehend.

The Bronco defense just isn't good enough to go very deep. They couldn't get Rivers off the field on 3rd down tonight. Stupid penalties were the main culprits.
Of course, Peyton will get the entire blame for this loss from the national media.
