451  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Why???? Why do people have diarrhea of the mouth? Why do they on: September 20, 2013, 08:03:44 EDT
have to speak about everything they know? Like someone said, he was given money, he had access to the training table, he got a free education, the best facilities in which to work to optimize his physical performance, coaching and training with which he made it into the pros.....why throw the university under the bus because you were immature and didn't manage your money and/or eat at the training table? Screw him!
452  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Gators have the 3rd best defense in the county (I think) and on: September 20, 2013, 06:40:31 EDT
our offense is anemic and defense too young and thin, the game is in the swamp, Florida offense is way past due to have a good game and they've had a week off to prepare....I got a feeling it's gonna be in the neighborhood of Fla 38   TN 13. Regardless I will be clad in orange and screaming for the Big Orange!
453  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Done. Looks like the Vol nation is having an impact 6% lead. on: September 20, 2013, 01:46:22 EDT

454  Sports / VTTW Message Board / What about them and Oregon....probably a record for scoring on: September 19, 2013, 09:01:27 EDT
in a NC game for sure.
455  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I'd love to see our OL be able to impose their will on the Ducks and on: September 13, 2013, 04:52:52 EDT
allow us to eat clock and move the ball, this should allow us to effectively pass. If we could do this and score TDs instead of settling for FGs and our D forced 3 or more turnovers and was able to prevent quick scores....we would have a game on our hands.
456  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I'd be curious to know how many yards they gave up in on: September 13, 2013, 04:20:44 EDT
the first half vs second half....I'm wondering if once they get a good lead if they begin to sub in the 2s and 3s liberally which would logically result in more yards surrendered.
457  Sports / VTTW Message Board / You keep those criminal graduates of yours out of Tennessee we on: September 12, 2013, 08:51:35 EDT
have had more than our share of woes of our own making, we don't need no help from Bamers.
458  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I'll be pulling for A&M but I can't see Saban allowing on: September 11, 2013, 06:59:04 EDT

459  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Yeah, I haven't watched LSU enough to have a good feel for them but on: September 11, 2013, 04:41:08 EDT
I think they're could very well win the west....as for the NC, I'm not sure but if what I've read holds true then I think you're right...they could be the one.
460  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I think it's the Dawgs to lose. Florida would have to make a on: September 11, 2013, 03:35:15 EDT
major turnaround in order to have a shot and S.C., as I said earlier, just doesn't look to be as strong as in recent years...in fact the whole of the SEC appears to be down a little due to turnover. I don't think the SEC wins the NC this year, in fact I think we are playing the eventual NC this week.
461  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I'm with Vinny....since we are rebuilding we are not in the on: September 10, 2013, 01:42:42 EDT
hunt for a championship so this game means nothing from a goal perspective. I would like to see great effort and offensive improvement (passing in particular) and it would be great if we didn't get embarrassed too bad. Like CW said, I'd love to upset Fla next week as that would be meaningful to the team and fans as a milestone along the righting the ship path. If I had to bet I'd bet the Ducks cover.
462  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I liked Butch referencing May's "upset alert" in the pre-game. on: September 09, 2013, 05:30:40 EDT

463  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Not looking at the score but just strictly based on play I'd on: September 09, 2013, 04:40:58 EDT
say that the good was that the defense appeared to be very well prepared for what WK would do which allowed DBs to be in position to make some plays, as CW pointed out the first was completely on the receiver, but Coleman completely read and duped the QB into the throw and he scored six as his payoff. The bad was the fact that the D could not generate a consistent pass rush and was sporadically good against the run, they're RB had too many yards. The offense....well Worley is not good and as I stated earlier, we need a legitimate passing game to take pressure off the run and we don't have that....it wasn't until the second half that we began to run at all and I suspect partly that was due to WK having their energy drained from the TOs in the first half. Also, the blocked punt...Palardy took waaaaaaaaay too long to get that ball off, that has to get corrected NOW, we're not explosive enough to be able to help the other team and mount a come back.

We played virtually mistake free and penalty free and gave good effort IMO. This was one we should have, and did, win so that's good. I can definitely tell the team is receiving good instruction from this staff, it's very apparently IMO...but the talent and depth just isn't sufficient to compete at a high level yet, I fear this week will be ugly. Unless we can just cram the ball down the Duck's throat I expect we have to play from behind early and Worley throws at least 2 int's, probably more. However, if Butch can keep the teams psyche together I think we could have a shot at Fla next week....they didn't look like they will be putting up lots of points this year.

It's unfortunate that Horse Face wasted all that money on a washed-up old quarterback.

Yep, obviously he should have given the job to Tebow.

Whichever one of them manages to lose will make me happy. There's just something intriguing about an 0-2 start for Georgia and watching their fan base self-implode. But, at the same time, the last thing we need when Butch is needing to raid pipeline states to get this program back on its feet is for Georgia to fire Mark Richt and hire a better coach. So, I'm going with the pups.

picture of him with no shirt can't but help with S.C. recruits as well.
466  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Who wins the Dawg vs Cock matchup? The Cocks didn't on: September 05, 2013, 08:25:56 EDT
impress me as being as good as they have the past couple of years and the Dawgs looked like the best team I've seen them field in a long time, of course this is predicated on Clemson being as good as they appeared, so I'm going with the Dawgs 24 - Cocks 17.
467  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Copy that! on: September 04, 2013, 07:32:41 EDT
Some of us have to be contrary or these places would be no fun.

it's part of the fun of being a fan....I love football, college football that is, I no longer have the passion for the pro game. I apologize if I appear contrary, I don't intend to be, I just like to give and receive different perspectives to get a feel for how a game will play out against a particular opponent.
470  Sports / VTTW Message Board / We did improve last year, but I feel that may have been more on: September 04, 2013, 05:07:06 EDT
attributed to the prolific passing game and the big plays that resulted in the passing game, which held the focus of defenses, than to actually getting better at run blocking....can't say for a fact but it is reasonable to think that given the poor production in the run game the previous 2 yrs. I think it was last year that we switched from the zone-blocking scheme that seemed about as successful as the 3-4 defense, so that may carry over if it had an impact. I truly hope we're better because Worley will not be striking fear into any defenses and a solid run game would provide some cover for him and the young receivers.
471  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I listened on the radio so Creek is probably correct in that what on: September 04, 2013, 04:05:02 EDT
I heard regarding inability to dominate the los in a some situations was probably when the back ups were in, however this line has earned a reputation of being "great" based on the fact that our offense recently has been a passing offense and we have given up few sacks. Look at the ypc over the past 3 yrs and it's not good and my point was to that fact IMO precludes calling them "great"...if someone wants to say they're great at pass protection I'll give 'em that but a truly great OL (like Bama last year) is great at both run blocking and pass blocking.
472  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I have to take exception, at least based on the AP game, with on: September 04, 2013, 01:33:35 EDT
I'm gonna have to disagree based on last year's performance alone.  They had a slightly better record than us vs. much much worse competition.  Of course, it's a new year and all, but I am counting on MASSIVE improvement in our D on the theory that "they can't possibly do worse".

Honestly their D suxes...last year they gave up tons of points (still not as bad as us though lol).  This year Kentucky scored a few on them.  Their run D was below average, and we have not only a legit SEC OL, but frankly the best in the conference and one of the best in the country.  We should be able to run the ball down their throats and have time for enough of a passing game to keep them honest, new QB and WR or not.

Don't get me wrong, it will be a challenge, but I don't think they are "more of an SEC team than us" by any stretch.  I look forward to the game actually, because it is going to be a challenge stopping their passing game.

the best in the SEC and nation remark regarding our OL....they failed to impose their will against a very small, inferior DL. They rated highly based primarily on the few number of sacks allowed last year but they have never been a strong OL regarding the run, they've been soft in that respect and I didn't see anything Sat that made me think that has changed. We'll know more Sat.
473  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Butch is smart so I fully expected to see him get a look on: September 03, 2013, 03:31:27 EDT
at as many players as possible in game situations but I don't think we will have good idea as to what type of team we have until Sat....WKU will be a test, especially with Oregon looming next week. The stats, other than the no penalties, mean very little IMO due to the opponent and how far they were out of their class.
474  Sports / VTTW Message Board / TRO expressed my thoughts exactly. Worley didn't hit on: September 03, 2013, 01:48:17 EDT
anyone on-time and in stride, as TRO pointed out we missed a TD opportunity that, in a tight game, could be critical....you can not miss those! While KY may not be good, AP is horrible....very small lines and slow players. As I said a week or so ago, forget the upsets...I just want to see us display the ability to win the games we should and while WK is a should win game we will be pressed to do so. I still think the best thing we can do to help Worley is a dominant run game on which the D is forced to focus, while we made it look easy against AP....it was AP and as I said the line was very weak. WK had ball control issues that kept the score from being even worse....let's hope we can exploit that for some turnovers. GO VOLS!
475  Sports / VTTW Message Board / The article is probably correct, but, while extremely painful, I for on: August 29, 2013, 08:59:35 EDT
one am glad that Lane didn't stay. I hope Butch stays at least 10 yrs as I believe he knows what he's doing and we badly need stability in the program.
