601  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I have never, and never shall, root for Ala-STINKIN-bama. on: September 26, 2011, 08:55:25 EDT

602  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I think a lot of people lost their objectivity after on: September 19, 2011, 05:10:01 EDT
the Cin game. While I was excited to see that our passing game was continuing to build off of last year, I also saw that our running game was no better. We still have a very young OL, they may be stronger and played together for a season etc. but they are still very young. The cold hard truth is we are suffering from years of poor recruiting and neglect by past coaching staffs. We have a good coach and staff and if everyone will calm down (please don't think any of this is directed at you, this at all of us Tennessee fans in general) and let CD do the work necessary to get us back we will be in the top tier soon. It's not pleasant now and I agonize as much as anyone longing for the "good old days" but the fact is that we didn't get here over night and we won't get out in one season. IMO CF should have been gone about 5 years earlier than he was, if action had been taken then it would have been a short turn around but we had about 6 recruiting classes that turned out to be busts (either not many top recruits or experienced high attrition). I said going in that our record may not be any better but that I thought we would be a better team and I think that's going to be the case...we could still pull an upset or two but if the best team wins we'll probably end up 6-6 again. Let's just don't lose sight of the big picture.
603  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I don't think they have any choice....Bray has aptly demonstrated that if on: September 14, 2011, 09:03:45 EDT
given enough time that he will find a receiver and keep the chains moving or score a quick strike. I don't see how they can do anything but attempt to pressure Bray and disrupt his mechanics and/or reads. Our run game hasn't demonstrated that is effective enough to sustain the offense in and of itself. I feel our chances lie with how well our OL and backs can prevent their blitz packages from succeeding and/or Chaney's ability to devise answers for the blitz which will allow Bray to recognize from where the blitz is coming and have an available receiver which he can quickly dump the ball to.
604  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Since both of us are so young it's hard for me to make a prediction in on: September 13, 2011, 05:29:42 EDT
which I feel confident. I like our passing game against their secondary but I'm not confident that we are prepared for the pressure I'm sure Florida will attempt to apply (I don't think any DC will allow Bray time to make his read and throw unharassed, he's proven he'll pick ya apart). I expect lots of blitzing and attempts to confuse Bray with converages. If we can protect Bray, I like our chances...of course if we can get the run game going I like our chances regardless but our OL seems to pass block even on running plays (i.e. no firing off the line and driving the man across from them, they stand up and just try to walk the DL back). I watched the Florida/UAB replay and they looked good but again it was UAB. Their RBs are fast and elusive. The pass game wasn't intimidating IMO. I think defensively we need to contain the RBs, I don't think they can beat us in the passing game alone. Their kicker looks better than Palardy so I give them an edge there. Soooo, since this is both teams first real test....I'm going Vols 27  Gators 23.
605  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Which, IMO, simply indicates that they have on: September 09, 2011, 04:35:19 EDT
no real tradition and therefore no set uniform. I don't mind a little tweaking of our uniforms (stripes wider etc.) as has been done over the years but I don't want to see a uniform that I wouldn't immediately recognize as Tennessee.
606  Sports / VTTW Message Board / So glad for both of you! on: September 07, 2011, 05:41:42 EDT

607  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I agree. I think we'll have a better idea what to expect after this week. I'm on: September 06, 2011, 09:13:40 EDT
sure Dooley was balancing not showing our best stuff with giving them something to think about. I hope we're ready and have a good showing.

1. - UT football, no other sport team even comes close....I LOVE UT FOOTBALL!

2. - UT basketball, under Pearl I really got excited like never before over basketball....I hope the Cuonzo can attain the level of competitiveness that Pearl achieved.

3. - Braves, ever since TBS started airing them in the 80s I became a big fan, and it grew as my son was born and became such a big BB fan and then a player in H.S. and college

4. -  Air Force Academy Football, I served in the A.F., and my son is currently serving, and still pull for them.

5. - I guess U.S. teams in international competition

good-looking uniforms and if I was starting a new school with no tradition, I wouldn't be adverse to using them. BUT Tennessee has tradition and I don't ever want the tradition with the uniforms surrendered for the sake of being "cool". I don't mind a little tweeking now and then but that is not a Tennessee uniform.

the Vols, at the time you were lucky if UT was TV once/twice a year. He never attended UT, or any college for that matter, so it was a state pride thing for us...us (Tennessee Volunteers) against them (The Enemy). I loved it and still do!

smug and condemning while at UF and now he's sold his soul at SC in order to keep players eligible.

much suffering in this world and living here it's easy to become desensitized to it. I look forward to when God "makes all things new" and there are no more hungry, sick children or adults for that matter.
616  General Boards / PolitiVOL / Re: I can't believe that Al Gore has pointed this finger. on: August 09, 2011, 08:15:52 EDT
A couple of weeks ago I read an article by a NASA scientist which reported that data retrieved by a NASA satellite indicated that much more heat was escaping the earth's atmosphere than GWs had projected and he was being dismissed because he belonged to a group that espoused creationist philosophy. GW is so political that it is scary and the willingness of gov't to support changes and legislation that negatively impact us economically based on computer models and/or insufficient/manipulated data. It seems obvious to me that it is greenie religion and not science that is the biggest factor driving it....why else implement changes with such negative impacts when there is soooo much we don't know?
617  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I agree Revolver, we have to be creative while at the same time on: August 08, 2011, 05:20:57 EDT
designing enough flexibility into each package that when the keys are read we have personnel capable of adapting and responding effectively.
