That poor lady who gives out the L's in the SEC Shorts videos is going to be very busy after the bowl games are finished.

I'm perfectly OK with that.  I hope all of the rest of them lose, except the Vols of course.

Surely there is a way to determine sooner than 4 hours before kickoff that this is going to be the outcome.

This is really sad for folks that traveled to watch the game. I'm sure that the teams will be compensated (at least to some extent).  Fans, however, are simply going to lose their travel expenses even though they will no doubt be refunded their ticket cost.

My opinions:
Covid is here to stay.
The more cases, the more likelihood of mutations.
The more mutations, the more likely there will be more severe versions of the virus.
Eventually we will all be exposed, and likely infected with, the virus.
The vaccine is scientifically safe. If you understand the science behind it, there is very little concern.
The vaccine technology has the potential to change medical science in immeasurable ways - and not just for Covid.
Booster shots of the vaccine are going to be a continuous occurrence.

The question is, how do we return to normal?  I don't know the answer, but I suspect that the 'new normal' will never be what the 'old normal' was.

This was a huge win. I wish the refs had stayed out of it, but this was massive.

I thought that the Vols got a very friendly whistle tonight.

Really good game by JJJ, ORN, and Fulky.  Powell was also very productive and played well. 

KC and Santi had rough nights (combined 7/30 including 3/15 from 3).  KC was 2/14 and 0/3 from 3.  It is really surprising to me that this team was able to hold on and win with those two having the nights that they did.

As of 10:45 a.m., the Vols sit at #11 nationally on Rivals with 19 signees - 6 of which are four stars.  That is currently good enough for 4th in the SEC (behind #1 UGA, #2 A&M, and #3 Alabama).

Memphis is long, quick and athletic.  That's the type of team that we can have problems against.  I'm really hoping that we can put an L on them but if they play like they did tonight, it will take a great game to beat them.

I read somewhere the other day that two different evaluation publications had him outside of the top 10 in QBs (I think he was listed about 14th, but I'm not sure that I'm remembering that correctly).  Given that ranking, he would almost surely not be drafted this year.

If he can continue to develop and improve under CJH, his draft status for next season could possibly improve markedly.

I’ll believe that the NCAA will adequately and equitably enforce police when I actually see it happen at a school with some clout. Anyone who didn’t see this as a huge “red flag” when it was first proposed was blind, imo.

Heck, Texas has basically created a fund that promises to pay athletes who come to Austin under scholarship (for now, it’s only offensive linemen but I think that will expand quickly).

I went back and re-watched the missed dunk (layup) by JJJ.  His plant foot slipped slightly and his knee buckled.  He was fortunate that he didn't hyper-extend the knee on that play.

The wide open missed dunk layup was HUGE in a game like this.  It was a 4-point swing.

Analytics be dogged, I would have liked to have had about five made 15' jumpers in regulation.

I'm not sure what is up with the Zags.  I watched them against Texas, UCLA, and Duke and thought they looked really good.  On Monday, though, they had a tough time with Tarelton (who the heck is Tarleton) and today Alabama just took it to them on their home floor.

They may still win the CFP, but this is funny right here......

KC is a player!  No doubt about it.

On another note, I was looking at Powell's shooting stats.  I really think that Powell needs to be productive for this team to be as good as they can.  Having said that, he is not shooting a high enough percentage against the better teams.  Against UT Martin, ETSU, and Presbyterian he was 14/21 from the floor (11/14 from the arc).  He did not play against Tennessee Tech.  Against Villanova, UNC, and Colorado he was 7/22 (1/12 from the 3).

Good win for this team.  Defense forced a ton of TOs and they were able to score enough to win on the road in a hostile environment.

JJJ had a good day.  I'm glad to see it.  This team needs him to step up and be a leader, imo.
