At any time now, I'm expecting cramping to become a major issue for the Bama D!!!
927  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Game Thread: Bama 2021 on: October 24, 2021, 01:51:44 EDT
The offense was on the field for about 5:30 in that quarter.
928  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Game Thread: Bama 2021 on: October 24, 2021, 01:15:20 EDT
Uh oh!!! Bama gonna have to bring in a backup 5* WR maybe.

We need this to continue!!!!

Having discussed all of this, if I had the chance to change just one play in the game it would be: the play where Cade is injured.

I think that if Cade stays healthy for the game, we win going away.
931  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: How should I feel? on: October 21, 2021, 12:36:57 EDT
I think what you are feeling is fine. I'm not a fan of what occurred at the end of the game this weekend, but worse things have happened. There were no bad injuries so far as I know. The progress of this team is really encouraging to me. Maybe it's my orange colored glasses, but I really like what this team and staff have shown so far. I have some real hope for the future for the first time in a long time.

That's really funny, but it wasn't funny on Saturday.
933  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: CHEATING Cornbread's lawyer going "scorched earth" on: October 20, 2021, 06:33:35 EDT
Donde has hosed this. We should have just paid him to go away, and moved on with life.
As I understand things, she had no choice but to start an investigation once the problems were brought to her attention by the third party.
He has nothing to lose, but we do. It's dumb, but write him a check. That just leaves us with known NCAA issues.
As I understand it, this could potentially involve more than just UT is he was to be deposed. I've read that he could be asked, under oath, about his time at Bama, UGA, and during the NC season at FSU in addition to the UT issue.
Also, Fulmer needs to stay out of this. He's been paid to sink the ship twice.

Shaftesbury, Man O' War, and Myrtlewood Pine Hills were all in great shape 2 weeks ago. Stay away from Wachesaw East.
935  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: CHEATING Cornbread's lawyer going "scorched earth" on: October 20, 2021, 03:23:27 EDT
I fully believe that Fulmer is all about Fulmer, but in fairness the full quote was:
"The days I interviewed each candidate for the head football coaching position at the University of Tennessee, including Jeremy Pruitt, I emphasized that you did not have to cheat to win at the University of Tennessee and that cheating would not be tolerated," Fulmer told ESPN. "Jeremy has no one to blame but himself for his firing from UT. He had a great opportunity at a great university, and he simply screwed it up."

He clearly stumbled while catching the ball! Durn bro.The muffed punt was YUGE! No doubt.
I must respectfully disagree.  There was no stumble, imo.  I've watched it multiple times (in fact, I just went back and watched it again.)  Maybe he thought he was past the line to gain, maybe it was just poor technique in that situation, maybe it was something else, but it was not a stumble.  He was just beaten by the defender.

The 7 points that we spotted them was incredibly important.  Any time you give points away, especially after getting the stop like they did and having the opportunity to take all of the momentum early, its probably going to bite you.

I'm not defending anyone who threw stuff. I mean, I was there and I didn't throw anything. And so were about 102,000 other people.

But the camera angles being replayed inside the stadium made it appear that he got it beyond a shadow of a doubt. The Ole Miss fans in front of us were positive it should and would be over-turned. There was no replay shown on the jumbotron that gave even an inkling of a doubt to the idea that he'd reached the line to gain.
I understand completely! I wasn't there, but a friend who is a WVU fan asked me yesterday why those fans did that. He could not understand why fans would react like that when video showed the call was correct. I explained to him that inside the stadium, the jumbotron didn't show all the video that those of us watching on TV saw.

He then agreed that at first, even on TV replay, it appeared that Warren may have made the first down and that it definitely looked closer than the actual spot. The fiasco was much easier for him to understand after that.

I'm also not defending the trash throwing but as Plato said, "Perception is reality.". I also fully understand that the trash was the resonse of a very, very small percentage of the fan base.
938  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: The SEC is broken on: October 20, 2021, 01:47:54 EDT
I am not usually a conspiracy theorist but with the money that is involved with college athletics in this day and age, nothing that we would l learn about conference manipulation would be a surprise to me (in any major sport and any major conference).

In what other venue can a person be fired with a $17M “firing bonus” because they aren’t performing to expectations (both on and off the field)?

It’s all about the money, I think.  In my opinion, the Texas/OU deal is a prime example of that. I think the SEC office simply wants to hedge their bets on getting 2 teams in the playoff, thereby guaranteeing the SEC a lion’s share of the cash cow that is the NC playoff system.

Maybe they won’t be tested the remainder of the season, but I’m interested to see what occurs in the AAC if Cincinnati has any really close conference games through the end of this season. I don’t think this is just an SEC issue - maybe it’s more visible but I doubt that it’s exclusive.
939  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: This is crazy. on: October 20, 2021, 01:00:49 EDT
Your TE has to get to the sticks there....The TE must run over a smaller DB....That play should have never been bought into question. It' the difference between winning and losing...Maybe one of these days we make that play....make a long FG...do not drop a fair catch punt. Maybe.
I completely agree. If I’m not mistaken, we missed another 1st down earlier in the game because a receiver went down before contact (I can’t remember who the receiver was).

I also agree with your last statements, but I think that there’s a chance that our fortunes are starting to turn for the better. I hope so anyway.
940  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: This is crazy. on: October 20, 2021, 12:01:28 EDT
He was short. I hate it but he was.

If he doesn’t go down without contact he makes that first down easily.

Of the four (inc. ole miss), ole miss was the one I thought we had the best chance to win.
I agree.

Yes. I saw that also. I was amazed that a parent would feel that way.
945  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Students who are identified as throwing trash on the field on: October 19, 2021, 03:32:49 EDT
So do you think a hundred or so fans represent 102,455 people inside the stadium and the hundreds of thousands more who weren't there? Or are you the only one among us with moral aptitude?
CW, I think any reasonably rational individual understands that the vast majority of Vol fans were not pleased by what happened at the end of the game on Saturday. Regretfully, the actions of a few sometimes overshadow the actions of the many. It’s sad but that is the case, and always will be.

947  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Game Experience on: October 19, 2021, 03:20:09 EDT
Unfortunately, the rest of our experience wasn't that great...and I'm not even talking about the ignorant people throwing stuff at the end. I'm talking about the constant F-bombs, fans all around screaming obscenities, winding up smelling like beer when you leave because some jackal dumped his on you, etc. I left last night saying I'm done...at least for a while. I think it's primarily because we're sitting in the wrong spots, because my friends who have tickets in the lower bowl aren't experiencing the same issues. Obviously some would say it's because it was a night game, which certainly doesn't help things. But I've been to a night game vs. Ole Miss in Section PP, and a noon game vs. Pitt in Section BB, and the experience has been the same this season...surrounded by obnoxious jackasses. My twins have gone with me to UT games since they were 4. My youngest is 4 now, and there's no way in heck I would take him to a game. What's happened? Part of it, I suspect, is just people in general becoming much more rude at an alarming pace. I also blame beer sales in Neyland.
Sadly, disgusting behavior is more prevalent in society today than I’ve ever seen it in my 62 years. Inappropriate language is probably the most common behavior but a lot of people today seem to think that anything that they want to do is ok. I ski and lift lines over the past 10 years have become unbelievable: F-bombs and worse are everyday talk to so many people, regardless of how many ladies and children are present.
948  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Some Game Thoughts on: October 17, 2021, 09:23:33 EDT
Giving up 31 against Ole Miss qualifies as good work, especially with 7 coming from the muff.
I think that’s the second lowest scoring output for then this season, behind only Bama.
949  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: This is not acceptable........ on: October 17, 2021, 06:47:03 EDT
95% of the stuff being thrown was coming from the student section. There was very little coming from the upper deck or from other parts of the field. Some? Definitely. Not a lot. Matter of fact, from my section I didn't see a single thing hurled towards the field.
I’m sure that it was only a small percentage of the 100k. A good friend who was there said that it started in the adult section of the south endzone and that the students joined in.  I’m glad to hear that you didn’t see anything in your area. It would have been great if that could have been the case throughout the stadium.
