Unfortunately I had the drive from hell getting back from Jax today Seemed like the entire state of Tennessee was returning as well along with a few iu vehicles (with frowny faces in them), other assorted damn yankees and few snowbirds returning to the showy expanses of our northern neighbor Add in heavy rain from about 45 miles South of Atlanta and you have HELL on I-75!
Maybe lucky for you that apparently loads of 'em decided to spend an extra day sightseeing here in St. Aug. Not that I'm complaining; nice to see a surfeit of Tennessee orange in place of the usual Gators/Noles/Dawgs, and the turista $$ keep my taxes lower!!

Back in the ancient days when I was flying Space A, the words of wisdom were "don't let the dispatcher schedule you on a C-5, unless you like 4 hour delays or outright cancellations"!

My view is a bit more nuanced. I have a couple friends who went there, so I feel bad for them. But yeah, I was at the 91 Sugar Bowl. Elvis was one thing, but what pissed me off was their drunken fans chanting "it's great, to be, able to read" as a slam on our university and I guess the state of Tennessee. I very nearly got in a fight after the game over that chant. Of course, the 6+ hurricanes I drank during the game didn't help much. They incredibly classless and patronizing. In fact, I have other friends who went to Virginia Tech and they have all kinds of stories about Virginia arrogance. I still feel bad for my friends, but all the a-holes from 1991 can go to hell. Virginia labels itself "the Princeton of the South". As others point out, Princeton has never labeled itself as "the Virginia of the North"

Yeah I heard about him dropping UCLA and being pursued by the Vols yesterday. Great news that we are top of the list! Man do we need help at CB...immediately. Funny thing, some dumbass from Tennessee (yes we have those) called Finebaum yesterday and told him he "had read" that UT was last in the SEC in recruiting, and "whut we gonna do bout that, is thur enough players left afore th' next signin' day"? (I say dumbass because Tennessee is not at the bottom of the SEC this year in recruiting ). True to form, never to let an opportunity to take a shot at his alma mater pass, Finebaum said there just weren't enough kids left and that Pruitt has a huge rebuilding job ahead of him. Again...we are NOT last. In spite of all the busts and transfers, we still have a fair amount of talent on hand (Kirkland, Hall, TK jr all coming back!), and the cupboard is nowhere near bare from the early signing day. Another caller asked a two parter...was the SEC down and was there any chance UT could improve in the coming years? Finebaum spoke at length about how we have to wait till the playoffs are over to judge the SEC and just completely ignored the UT question. I know someohe who was in Hess Hall with Finebaum back in the day. He said all Finebaum ever did was complain about UT. What a fizzleing traitor. I say we burn him in effigy. I'll bring the lighter! "Burn him in effigy" Effigy Ohio or Effigy Kansas???

Since you are now an Englishter, aren't you more worried about communist kickball, cricket, fish and chips, bangers and mash, the royal family or whateverthehell y'all do in Great Britain? As the late Lewis Grizzard, a great American, once said: "I ain't staying in no foreign country during football season." Lewis was on to something. Hey! Don't knock fish and chips. "The Mill" at Eweshot used to get in fresh cod every Thursday; that and a pint of real English ale warn't nuttin to sneeze at!

I see it's being discussed (not just there) that he had one of the worst performances for a winning Super Bowl QB. Perhaps, but he was better than Cam except in total yards passing and rushing. Better completion percentage, better QB rating, fewer fumbles, same number of interceptions, and he was sacked almost as much (5 vs. 6). In the end, he was the "winning" QB, and that's what counts. Almost twenty years gone, 0 and 4 record agin' 'em, and he's STILL living rent free in their pointy little heads! There's some strange folks over there.

Read slowly - they have NOT played the level of competition we have! When you grow up come back to the discussion! Until you overcome your HATRED of Jones and the Tennessee football team trying to rationally speak with you is aboit as fruitful as talking to a bamer!
It's like arguing with a stump: useless, but you can't resist giving it a kick now and then.
