Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Kiffin to rebuild FAU "brick by brick"

Too lazy to post a link but Kiffin is off to a flying start with his first recruit, DeAndre something, getting the kid that was thrown out of Florida State for punching out a girl at the bar. What could possibly go wrong?

Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: HVAC Question

I put a new HVAC unit in my home a few years back. My house is fairly small (about 1000 sq feet) and my best estimate was for 3500. I already had duct work but the guy was still under the house banging away all day. I could have paid 1500$ more for an Energy Star unit which came with a 1500$ tax discount but I demurred.

I just don't do the message board thing as much I used to. I mean to post more here. I didn't post in the Lounge for a long time either but I got sucked back in. I don't have anything against any poster here . And every tailgate that I attended be it Emeril or TRO I was treated with the utmost hospitality and graciousness

Sports / VTTW Message Board / Does Inspector Vol not post on this board anymore?
|

He told some wild story in the Lounge the other day that he came to a tailgate party (he didn't say who the host was) and a couple of people left as soon as he got there and the rest of the people refused to talk to him at all. This doesn't sound like any Vol tailgate that I have ever gone to so I was wondering if anybody has any memories of this. He told me that he doesn't post here anymore because 2 things that he can't tolerate are "fakes and fools", whatever that means.

Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Knox area VTTWers: late summer / fall camp Happy Hour?

Count me in. I'm in Chattanooga now and I'll be on my way back to NC that day. Will stop by for a few hours and continue on for the UNC games against the Puppies the next day at 5:30. See y'all Friday. If Clock is not going to be there, I'll just ask for the reserved room when I get there since I don't know that I've met anyone going. Are y'all putting it under VTTW?

OK: Friday, September 2nd at 4pm at the Hardin Valley Casual Pint [/url]( http://hardin-valley.thecasualpint.com/) . If this works out, I can call ahead to see if we can get the bigger room and possibly arrange for some food to be brought in. We can stay until they kick us out or the first one passes out, whichever comes first. That sounds good to me. I will have to find a cheap hotel in the area as I won't be making the trip all the way back to Mebane that night. There's a Candlewood Suites near the interstate that doesn't look too funky. I'm open to any other suggestions.

When UNC did it a few years ago they made us leave early so that they could take our parking spots.😮

Good summary. I only take exception with this.
I would guess that if you pinned Butch down, he'd tell you that he regrets reaching for so many "project" players so early. As great as today's close was, it probably could've been even better if we had more open slots. It was kind of a sinking feeling seeing all these big names showing interest late and knowing we couldn't take most of them. Be more selective early in the process, Coach. Especially when your numbers are limited. Lesson learned, hopefully.
A bird in the hand is worth one in the bush. How many of these projects should we have foregone in hopes of giving a slot to a late arriving big name? What if we did that and we lost a bunch of them like the Crocs did? Would Butch have learned a lesson from that? No offense, but I'm going to trust Butch with these kind of decisions until he's shown me that he is not worthy of that trust. I'm not doubting him from the start.

I love Holly and I'm glad that we hired her because I think that she deserved the chance but she is just not getting the job done. I told one of the Butch bashers to look at direction not location and I'll say the same thing. Our location is not awful for now but our direction doesn't appear to be headed North. Recruiting doesn't seem to provide a remedy. If there's not some kind of turnaround before the end of the season, I'd say let's get someone else in there to see if we can get it back.

Sports / VTTW Message Board / I got curious about Tennessee's strength of schedule this year listening to VB
|
on: November 06, 2015, 07:37:42 EST
|
and found this:
NCAA College Football Strength of Schedule Rankings & Ratings
Rank Team Rating High Low Last 1 Tennessee (4-4) 12.0 1 64 1 2 W Virginia (3-4) 10.7 2 102 6 3 Alabama (7-1) 10.6 1 20 2 4 USC (5-3) 10.5 3 74 3 5 Notre Dame (7-1) 9.3 4 45 4 6 Mississippi (7-2) 8.9 2 71 9 7 Florida (7-1) 8.9 6 96 12 8 Washington (4-4) 8.3 5 51 13 9 California (5-3) 8.2 9 89 17 10 Texas (3-5) 7.9 2 35
Now, I'm not trying to talk about moral victories. I don't believe in them. But if you don't see the difference in a team that plays Alabama tough and a team that gets blown out by them before the 1st quarter even ends, I'm not sure what to tell you. As far as the losses to Florida and Oklahoma, those hurt. But once again, I saw tremendous progress from our game against those two teams last year. Are we where we want to be yet? No. But considering where the program was when CBJ took over and where we are now is night and day. It is not uncommon for a team/program unaccustomed to success to have trouble closing out wins. That comes with experience. But don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Be patient. We've had a bad decade but it's getting better. Focus on direction and less on current location. This is my advice which is worth what you paid for it.
