It is an assumption that an apology from CBJ automatically incriminates him. You have two children that come to you each blaming the other for breaking your antique Vase... Who do you believe? As long as they are fighting it does not matter. You act to protect both and then do your fact finding. Your position may change as the facts come out... It is STUPID!!!!!, STUPID to expect CBJ to react based upon the facts he did not yet have. People calling for CBJ's job are the ones making the assumptions.

I am confused... I thought Bowles said he was only "verbally" accosted.  Now he was physically?

That is what I thought as well. But, I have been reading conflicting reports (or bad reporting).
553  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: UT press conference on: February 25, 2016, 03:38:54 EST
It cuts both ways... One would have to ask why you have such an opinion with a deficit of facts? That is a rhetorical question.
554  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: While we may never know what Coach Jones said or didn't say to Bowles, on: February 25, 2016, 02:45:16 EST
The article in the Tennessean says that Butch apologized to Bowles later that day in which case we may be hyperanalyzing Butch. I can see where he would tell the team to stay away from Bowles in an attempt to prevent further incidents and not as an affront to the kid. How people not present during Butch's discussion of the events with bowles define the events is irrelevant. The kids implicated in the "alleged" assault were summarily dismissed from the team with the charges and who was it that did that? Let's remember this is NOT Bowles suit. He did not bring charges. Maybe he should have. If he did we would see how Butch handled that but we cannot lend the same weight to our imaginations as we do the facts.

My ears are bleeding with this harpy sh$t. She took the money (x3) and agreed to shut up. When is she going to do so? I don't want to trivialize what happened... but she took the money! How long will the media and courts be complicit in blackmailing the man over the same exact event? If it is justice she is concerned with then there were certain steps she could have taken but did NOT.
556  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Good grief, it just won't stop... on: February 14, 2016, 11:57:23 EST
The reason for the settlement is Ut v Ut; a house divided against itself... The article is strictly hyperbole and the only one that should be raked over the coals by it is the author ("reporter"). I don't know all the details but if it is simply that she got a close up of his danglies then you gotta question her judgment in her choice of electives.

Ok, I've read enough about it now to hope it goes to court. But the two cases should definitely be severed since Ut is not mentioned in her present lawsuit. What has made me conclude that is the referenced affidavits of Peytons former ut teammates. If Peyton impugned her reputation in his book then we are NOT talking about 20 years ago.

Well here in Nashville, the first wave was melted from the ground relatively soon after it hit the ground but last nights rain turned into snow and dropped about 4". Tonight we are suppose to get a third wave of about the same amount on top of what couldn't melt today. A lot of roads closed and I'm betting a lot of outages. I wonder what the shelves at foodland look like?

There is another one mentioned in there though he isn't a music legend... Alan Rickman (Hans Gruber) died.

...Athlon releases their early poll for 2016 and have the vols in the top ten preseason (#8). Weird to see this projection for next season before we see the final poll this season.

Was that you that coined that phrase on their board? I thought that was very funny in a harmless football fan sort of way but they didn't seem to have a sense of humor.

562  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Star Wars first impressions on: December 22, 2015, 06:57:10 EST
So if you haven't seen the movie, you should already have this thread on ignore.  But that goes double for this post.  Seriously.  You have been warned...

Let's talk about the death of Han Solo.  Where does that rank among the all-time gut wrenching screen deaths?  I've seen many liken it to Obi-Wan's death in A New Hope, but I don't even think that's comparable.  By the time OWK died, we had known him for all of, what, 80 minutes?  Whereas the character of Han Solo has been a pop culture icon for nearly 40 years.  And when you think about all the shizzle he managed to survive in the earlier movies, to die under these circumstances makes it especially heartbreaking.

No, I think you have to go outside the Star Wars universe to find anything close.  Fredo Corleone, maybe?  Captain Miller from Saving Private Ryan?  Old Yeller?  What do you think?

I would say that Glenns (apparent) death on walking dead was probably a bit more shocking. I expected solo to die. The real surprise for me was the cameo of Luke.
563  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Star Wars first impressions on: December 22, 2015, 06:48:07 EST
Just saw it. I'd rank it at #4. The sabre scenes don't compare to 'sith'. It is nearly a remake of IV. As for too many ewoks... It had to happen on someone's homeworld. If it hadn't been them it would have been too many of something else. It was made for a wide audience.
564  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Star Wars first impressions on: December 20, 2015, 05:41:36 EST
I have never heard anyone extol 'Empire' as one of the better Star Wars movies before (merely an observation on my part). As for jar jar... I had the same reflex most everyone else had but as I have thought about it... It may actually fit the reaction one would have to some of the more exotic aliens. The ones I liked the best were 'Jedi' and 'Sith'.

A crack in the dam was introduced by someone with some responsibility. It may not show up tomorrow but the damage will show up at the exact time when they will need the dam at its strongest. You never add stress at the same time you remove support. Going public was stupid.
568  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: IMO the L$U AD and administration are still on: November 29, 2015, 05:49:44 EST
Terms of his current contract aside it would serve them right for this last weeks fiasco to blow up in their 'freakin' faces. Everyone that works knows their job secruity is contingent on their job performance. If my boss went out of his way to express what is already understood... I would take that as a sign to polish off my resume. A bluff is an empty (unacheivable) threat. This was no bluff. It was a very public humiliation. Miles' comments suggest to me they have not quenced his resentment toward them for this.
569  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: IMO the L$U AD and administration are still on: November 29, 2015, 06:37:21 EST
Nobody with any sense would mess with what got them what they have. The media didn't get played. Les was most likely going to get fired if he didn't win this game. Listening to less' presser one can see he is being just genial enough in his comments but there is still an underlying verbal sparring going on. I would like to see them get contacted by programs fishing for an hc and him negotiate a punitive contract with lsu. It would serve them right to pony up more dough because they did not handle this situation with better sensitivity. They were downright stupid!
570  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: As much as you think I hate Butch, I wouldn't take Les Miles over him right now. on: November 27, 2015, 06:02:00 EST
1 point separates Ut from the secc. Another 7 points separates them from talk of playoff. I accept Butch's explanation that Ut suffered late in games because of a lack of depth in the depth chart. Hell that is what everyone on this board has been talking about since dooley. It calculates. Butch won at cincy with less competition than he faced in the sec. That suggests a harder road ahead for the effectivness of his system but the results suggest it is working. Afaic Butch has thus far justified his hiring.
