If you expect to make friends online... You expect too much. I probably showed up on the board the third day of its existence and between then and now I have gone and come back for a two and three year hiatus and each time nobody noticed I was gone. Or if they noticed they didn't say anything which is just as good because after this post I may be gone again tomorrow because someone misunderstands what I'm posting. Don't let anyone steal your joy. It is just a game. I talk about football... nobody here knows anything else about me to call me a friend. That's reality. I don't go to the games the one exception was the '98 game because it happened to be in the city where I lived at the time. I saw the game the next year but I don't really want to talk about that.

Our A game is in traction right now.

This game is no indicator. How many games will you have where a good team gifts you five possessions (or however many there were)? They clearly have their own issues which were only partly due to our play. I couldn't honestly say that we would have won that game without the gifts. I can say this... the game did show this team can be reigned in and brought under discipline. There is nothing that I have seen that cannot be fixed.

It was a good adjustment. App State had a good record last year but they just didn't play a very laudable schedule. Having said that I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have about the same success this year as they did last year.

As painful as it may be... our coaches need to feel the force of circumstance before it actually comes. You can't have experience without living experience. They are there to play football... put em on the field and learn how to recruit if you don't already know how.

It isn't less ugly but any targeting Ut for ridicule is more easily dismissed as hypocrisy. The sec certainly did not defend its crown as the best conference in football. We all (the teams) got a lot of work to do.

My take... My expectation is to give 14 points a game... a team that gives that many points is more likely than not to have a GREAT year. You just don't expect an offense that remained intact from what the team was last year to be so flat. Having the safeties making most of the tackles reminded me of the marme defenses of the late 80s was it? That can't be what we traded up from last year for... I hope it was that they were playing it close to the vest but more likely they listened to their press instead of appy states press. I gotta admit... I did absolutely no scouting against that team myself. Then again... that ain't my job.

The issues on Defense were mental. The same might be said of the offense also. The one thing I was looking for that I did not see was an improvement on the passing game. My reasoning on the perception of defense inadequacy is that they scored first and so early in the game. It FELT way too early for us to be playing from behind and given the fact that it took us til overtime to actually gain the lead... the team didn't expect to be in that position either.

It was a bogus call. Period! The rules have an ambiguity that the fair catch signal is suppose to address but if the runner does not avail themselves of it the onus should be on them not the defense. The true rules are to stop a play you down the ball which is what the runner did. He did not interfere with the catching of the punt but that is what the call was with the aggravation of targeting. This situation will exist and the receiving team takes their chances in this way to try and get a call like that or they must change the process of change of possession. I suspect the kid was coached to do this (kinda irresponsible). Sorry vinnie... I didn't realize you had already posted it.
