I caught the tail end of Finebaum on the way home, and this occured to me...

Jurich publicly swore to keep Strong at Louisville, so the amount they offered him, while a bit ridiculous for a school such as Louisville, makes sense given Jurich's stance.   Further, with Louisville going to the ACC, they probably felt they needed to make a statement. 

I think we could have had Strong for $3-3.5 million if not for Jurich drawing a line in the sand.  Is $4.1 million ridiculous for Louisville at the present time?  Of course it is...but as someone tweeted earlier tonight, just 13 years ago everyone was shocked SOS got $1 million.

Football brings in huge revenue and is very competitive.  I think the salaries continue to go up.

I actually don't think it's a good thing and definitely reflects some skewed priorities in our culture, but it is what it is.
