You might have noticed that the original BBC version is also available on Netflix.  Unless you want to spoil Season 2 of the new version, I would recommend staying away from it.  I'm afraid I just saw a HUGE spoiler in just the 4th episode.

Original BBC version was great; you actually found yourself pulling for Urqhart (Ian Richardson).

Not me- at least not through 4 episodes.  Dude's even creepier than Spacey.

Although I DID root for Underwood (Spacey) in the new version.

The original book made Urqhart out to be a TOTALLY miserable slimeball; the author was highly PO'd that the Beeb's adaptation made Urky look more "charming" whilst still totally heartless.
