My thought is that he was high or mentally ill, or both. It's an odd situation to be sure.

The first sounds like a bad case of road rage, the second just sounds nuts.  It likely was not intentional, but who knows?

I'd be surprised if he was sober. My guess is he'd just experienced a major professional setback (failed tryout), and was trying to medicate through it.

I'm glad no one else was hurt, but it's terribly tragic. Regardless of whether my theory is correct, it's a heartbreaking story.

I think they did an autopsy and found no drugs or alcohol but yes it was a tragedy.
