You know the Titans are going to screw things up in the end.  It's just their nature.

You would think they would have learned their lessons with WRs with a pot habit, but obviously not. Looking only at potential and ignoring bad behavior costs money and should cost jobs. It is obvious character does NOT count to Titan's management.

Titan WRs are unproductive for one reason and one reason alone. They have not had a QB that had time or the ability (accuracy) to actually complete passes on a regular basis.

Do you think Marriota will be a franchise QB or was he just a product of the Oregon system? Winston looks like a more prototypical NFL QB.

If that's true, I would've jumped all over that trade offer.  That's the kind of offer you'd get for a sure thing, ie Manning or Luck.  Mariota may turn out to be pretty good, but he's far from a sure thing.  And there will be other, probably better QBs coming up in the next few years.

That's what I was thinking. With some quick fixes (at least a band-aid repair) at several positions and two first round picks they could be competitive much sooner than than by drafting alone, and their drafts haven't panned out all that well in the recent past.

The Titans used the second pick in the draft to take a QB who hasn't taken a snap under center since junior high school.

Figures.

The Titans problems go a lot deeper than the QB spot.  Does matter if they have Marcus Marriota, Peyton Manning, or Johnny Unitas back there right now.  Until they shore up the rest of the team they are still going to suck.  They could have used that spot to fill 3 or 4 other needs and still be able to acquire a decent QB later in the draft or with a trade.

I dunno.  The NFL, much moreso than college, is a QB league these days.  And if you think you have a chance to get a great one, you have to take him. A great QB can cover up a lot of other roster deficiencies (see Andrew Luck).  So if the Titans think Mariota is in that class, then they absolutely made the right move.  But I don't think he is.  Time will tell.
