conference record. Should they expect better than that? The West is tough. I just don't ever see them competing consistently with the top teams in their division

From appearances, the Miss State fan base turned against Morehead because he was from the North and not the South. Right or wrong, good or bad, if the fans stop supporting the team, the AD and power brokers will take note. Don't know if they can find better, but it will take more than two years to replace show progress.

I'd say Ole Miss hiring Kiffin sped up the firing process....And based on some Miss State fans I know here the program was becoming a cluster on and off the field with some serious discipline issues.

A intersting tidbit I heard this morning.....The 3 recruiting classes under Moorhead was the first time in Miss State history that they'd had top 25 classes in three consecutive years. He must have been a good recruiter.

They pulled the trigger too quickly IMO. What the last two years show is that Mullen was the reason for their success. Doesn't mean he was the right choice, but needed more time. Definitely doesn't mean he would have ever got there, but I'm very skeptical they can find anyone to do any better.
