……....We had more rebounds. And we still lost.

Why?

When we had the lead in second half, I thought we were going to  win going away. TO's are the devil. Pearl just coaches with more intensity and it shows in his team. I thought we had it though.

The men's and women's basketball teams should have a gypsy come in and remove this curse.

I've never seen so many turnovers.

The starting PG should be in high school right now. Comes with the territory.

But I still think this team looks primed for a huge rebound season next year.

Never felt confident, but was beginning too. Gaines & Johnson looked decent today. Fulky exposed. JJJ sucked. Pons with 3 in & outs & bad mistakes in the second half. Oh & the turnovers

Glad to see Bowden have a good game. I live Rick, but he isn't outcoaching Pearl, or any of the top tier down the stretch.

Agree. Pearl owns Barnes.

I was there last year.  Welcome to the club!

No excuses for blowing a 17 point lead in the second half.

Barnes slowed down play way too early. TnPhil observed this in a different game a couple weeks ago (SC I think), but it was obvious that it ruined the rythm of the team. They were scoring almost at will but started milking the clock with like 10-12 minutes left  Way too early!  No sooner did they milk the clock than missed shots and TOs proliferated.  Barnes really needs to go back, watch the film from both those games, and keep the pedal to metal till at least 5 minutes left, or 2-3  if its a tight lead.  If a one point lead, only milk it under a minute maybe.

Clark Kellog also commented that he didn't like the slow down. I agree!  Hope to never see that again.  If I do I am going to Twitter-bomb Barnes and the entire team.

No knock on Fulkerson- he’s been our best and most consistent player this year (never thought I’d say that). But he was the wrong guy at the wrong time yesterday. We went on our big run in the first half when he went to the bench early with two fouls. It was a smaller, quicker lineup, and AU had no answers for it. When he came back after halftime, we went back to our normal plodding style, and they were quite prepared to defend that. And it didn’t help that SV spent most of the 2nd half on the bench with foul trouble.

Yeah.  There was still a deliberate slow down, or at any rate the commentor mentioned it and it sure seemed that way to me also.  Deliberately bouncing the ball near the  half court more than they needed to, extra passes, etc. I am sure Fulky and the foul trouble for SV contributed, but it seemed very deliberate to me.  And way way too early.  Nothing wrong with running the clock, but not with 12 minutes left, at AUBURN of all teams (well known for shooting threes).
