Why did conference commissioners and university presidents have to become so greedy? We're witnessing the end of college football as we know it. (As if the NIL and the transfer portal weren't already ushering us down the sewer pipe to sports hell.) I envision a day soon where I'll just be throwing old '80s and '90s game broadcasts and highlight films into a VCR that I pick up at a yard sale somewhere, reliving the good ol' days.

I'd like to go back to 1990 alignments, but that doesn't seem likely.

That having been said, expansion only works if an addition adds to the pie. Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and North Carolina are likely the only schools that would increase SEC payouts.

Clemson, Washington, Miami, Virginia Tech, etc. are fine programs, but they're not worth the hassle of adding for the B1G or SEC.

If we’re going to continue to expand, my top 3 right now would be UNC, UVA, and ND. All three would expand the SECN’s reach (drastically, in ND’s case) meaning more $$$ for everyone. Also, the B10 likely has designs on all three. Beating them to the punch would be hilarious. As for a 4th, pick one of Clemson, FSU, Duke, VPI, or WV. I’m really not interested in expanding our geographic footprint any farther.

As I point out elsewhere, UNC and Virginia would complete the collection of former Confederate states.  We could change the name to the CFC, Confederate Football Conference

ND?  I would be hugely against that.  If that happened, they should change the name to money conference instead of SEC.

All men dream: but not equally.
Those who Dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds
Wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the
Dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they
May act their dream with open eyes, to make it Possible.
This I did.
