Heupel needs to up his recruiting game and Vols backers need to open checkbooks. Not going to compete with teams with multiple 5* players with his 3*-4* roster. We will be an average SEC team unless this happens. The favorable schedule might make us look better than we are again. Anyone think otherwise?

IMO with our athletic department spreading the NIL wealth among the athletic programs and not just football and men's basketball like a lot of the big dogs are doing....We are happy being good in many sports and not trying to compete for championships in football yearly like your Texas....OU....OSU...Bama...etc's of the world.

That's a pretty sad state of affairs. Why would an athletic department do that? Why would we watch much Vols football if a championship is not strived for, or supported and funded. Do we want that? Football brings in the most revenue. Why not go all out to win? You might not be wrong about it though.

IMO...we will be inline with Ole Miss...Ark...Auburn...than we will the Bama's....UGA's....Texas's etc. We will be in the mix for the playoffs every few years. Tennessee had the highest budget for recruiting but yet were were down the rankings in the SEC. We will need to adjust to that fact.

Team (Vols) with four 5* players is not going to beat a team (Buckeyes) with 16 5* players very often. My question is why can't we get more 5* players?  UGa, Texas, Bama damn sure can. If we ever get a schedule that has them all on it, it won't be good.

11 is too low, but Heupel seems to do better when expectations are low, so good.

LSU is, as usual, overrated.  I have seen enough of that coach in the SEC to know he should have stayed at Notre Dame.
