By the 4th quarter UGA is going to get complacent. Then Worley drops the hammer.
You know you're having a tough season when 3-17 at the half isn't all that disappointing.

Our entire offense received Dear John text messages from their girlfriends this morning. No one has their head in the game.

Sports / VTTW Message Board / One thing I find interesting about the coach search

is how fast it is supposed to be. What has it been, three weeks now, not counting preliminary time? Heck, most corporate boards would still be working on getting the search committee together.
Yes, I understand why, given the reality of recruiting, but the extreme time pressure must make it:
1. Quite difficult to do a competent hiring job. The time to do all the components of a properly done search, plus negotiations is unheard of in any other field. 2. Much more a matter of luck that we get the right coach as there is little likelihood that the AD can really do all the steps correctly in such a short timeframe. 3. Likely that unless the AD gets lucky fast, desperation will dramatically increase the likelihood of an unwise hire and at a higher price.
It makes me wonder if, given the daily increasing probability that the above factors will contribute to Hart overpaying for a head coach who won't work out anyway - with another multimillion dollar buyout, would we actually be better off biting the bullet on a recruiting year so we can take a collective chill pill and let Hart take his time?
Just a thought. Not really serious.

If this means he already has a great short list of likely willing candidates, great. But if not:
1. A search firm can have conversations he cannot. Failure to use one limits how the dance can be played. 2. A search firm gives you a lot more bandwidth to conduct the search so you can move faster and are less tempted to take the easy short cut. As much as Hart may prioritize this hire, he still has unavoidable demands. 3. People who do searches (if you get the right one) have deep skill sets relevant to a search Hart surely does not. Again, if Hart already has a Gruden on the line, that doesn't matter. But if he is out to fish, I'd rather he hired professional fishermen to help rather than go it alone with his cane pole.
