if I root for Kiffin's USC to beat Notre Dame?
I just can't stand the thought of the Irish getting to play in the NC. And Kiffin's is already so wounded that maybe helping him stick around there is a good thing. Or maybe I'm just justifying. For some reason I value Notre Dame not being #1 more than an additional defeat for Kiffin. I apologize to the ghost of Neyland.

I will not be there......................they best way to show my disapproval is to leave my seats empty................... I wish all season ticket holders would do the same Not that I have room to talk because I haven't made it to Knoxville in years, but I disagree. Dooley is on the way out regardless. Assuredly almost all the players are doing their best despite how we fans judge them. They are just in a horrible place mentally due to the situation. They need a leader and can't be blamed because they don't have one. Don't worry about appearing to support Dooley. That's done. Just support our team. BTW, I also feel for Coach Dooley. I hope he finds a good place and gets his act together later. But not here now.

In my naive view, it would be inexcusable for the players to tank even if they saw advantage in doing so. As a fan whose job is comparatively ridiculously easy it would be hypocritical for me to root for anything but victory in every game.
JMHO.

This stat got me going:
In his 3 years, Mullen is 6-7 at night at home. Wins have come against UAB, Kentucky, LA Tech (overtime), UT Martin and Ole Miss. Losses against Georgia Tech, Florida, Alabama (2x), Auburn (Thurs. night), Arkansas and LSU.
Until I realized we are much more like the first group and much less like the second.
But way closer to the second group than the first! I feel good about this game. We're going to have a happy Sunday!

Much of the "quit" against Florida, or at least the start of the snowball, was caused by our starters running out of gas because the team doesn't yet have enough depth for Dooley to feel safe subbing sufficiently, unlike Florida has and did.
IMHO, fans can be pretty unfair and unrealistic about how players who are injured or worn out should perform.
Barring flat out collapse, I hope we stay patient and see how Dooley can really do when he has a full team. And frankly, I assume he's learning. We may still end up with a great coach without doing a thing but staying patient.
That's my ignorant opinion.

No disrespect intended, but you asked.
I find the Bible to be like a Rohrschach test. People see in it whatever they need to validate what they want to believe. That doesn't mean that people are not sincere or didn't take their Bible studies seriously. It's just a consequence of human nature. Motivated reasoning.
This is why denominations vary so greatly in their interpretations, why ministers and their flocks can sincerely take positions that (at least to me) seem utterly unlike what Jesus would say, and why you and I don't agree on this interpration. For which we both blame each other.
In this chapter some people ask Jesus how they should pray. He very clearly tells them. To me his instructions contradict prayer in Neyland stadium.
1. It's a public spectacle, not private. 2. Given the environment of a college football game, one has to be blind (IMHO) not to see the parallel to the criticism Jesus was making of the Pharisees. Bear in mind that they probably felt themselves sincere as well. Even if one gives a liberal interpretation of Jesus's instructions to not preclude public prayer, the gladiator scene hardly fits with "giving glory to God". Neither does Tebowing for the cameras because you scored an important touchdown.
You disagree, which is not surprising. It may well be that my interpretation of scripture is unfounded. And it may well be that you are having the Bible conform to your desires.
JMHO.

English professors. It appears they really have their work cut out for them.
"Don't nobody put no pressure on us."
Although Richardson does get credit for stringing enough negatives together to make his statement logically correct.

Pirate pointed out that the coaches must have seen something exploitable about Amerson. Watching the game do any of you know what it was?
Given his 13 interceptions my speculation would be that maybe he looks for the pick too much rather than just doing good coverage. Killed by greed, as it were.
He didn't look that fast in the run by Patterson, but other than that I didn't see a speed issue.
What did you see?

I would add: Enduring the lows without giving up on the team - going 0-6, losing 11 straight to the Tide, staying and cheering for the team until the 0.00 no matter what. The highs have been much higher as a result and every victory and championship has been that much sweeter because as fans, that's the only way we actually can claim to have earned any of the mountaintop.
And converting every redneck or moron joke into being about Alabama fans. I've really enjoyed that.
