Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Tablet Advice For My Son & School Needs
|

Just another opinion: I have a Nexus 7" tablet (Made by ASUS for Google) and have had it since release last year. Very inexpensive (249.00 at the time - 8GB for 199.00) and has all but taken the place of my other computers at home. I have never had a problem with it and as far as the inexpensive android tablets go, I would not hesitate to recommend it. It is the 16GB version, but with a USB flash drive dongle I can add more storage space than I need anyway. The 2013 Nexus tablets are out now, and cost a little more. They have been fairly well received, but it has been noted that there is a slight drop in battery life compared to the 2012. This is likely due to redesign to include a rear facing camera. If I understood your post and the primary user will be a child, I would certainly invest in a good case. There will certainly be drops and other opportunities for damage, so you know how that goes. I personally don't care much for the limited version of the OS on the Kindle. I bought my wife a Galaxy Tab 2 and she loves it. Especially the SD card reader. The Tab 3 is out now, but i have not had the chance to use one. Agree with everyone that the iPad is the gold standard, but it is priced accordingly. I support and use them at work and they have a beautiful display and surpisingly good sound for a tablet. For the money and compared with my usage needs, it just isn't worth the cost. Anyway, just my opinion. http://www.google.com/nexus/7/

This one was over from the initial post. Would submit Steve Harris from Iron Maiden or Chris Squire from Yes, but not above Geddy or Les. Les is a weird dude, but he is good.
All I can say about Vinnie's submission is: Man if you ever get this guy on your side he will always have your back! Brought Gene into the discussion. I'm not gonna argue. I may need Vinnie to back me up one day. Heh
-No submission. Thread conceded. gg-

Agree with almost all so far, but...you missed a pretty badass rock frontman. (In my opinion the most talented and versatile in rock and it's not close) Could have picked any one of a whole bunch of songs that showcase his talent, but you all know who he is. http://www.youtube.com/v/r4UNoECibYkAgree on Allison Krauss - incredible and sounds just like that live. Union Station also flawless live. Thorogood in a vocal performance thread? Hey whatever man.. Edit: Missed 101st mentioning Freddie already. Salute.

I have worked in IT for years. Our users are almost all on Windows 7. It is a solid OS. Haven't supported or used Windows 8, but most people I know think it's fine. What I can say from experience is that almost everyone that I have migrated from XP to 7 really like it and transition easily. Any reason why it has to be a desktop? What kind of budget is there for the computer? What is the main purpose of it? (work, games, research, streaming por... Media? Dell is probably ok, but they take much better care of business or large organization users than home. Pretty much anywhere you go, you get what you pay for. I am partial to Asus, but that's just my opinion. I bought an Asus Nexus 7 tablet last year and almost never use my other PCs/iMac/iPad. It has limitations, but I love it. For a couple hundred bucks, it has more than paid for itself. Anyway, plenty here know as much or more than I do, but I will be happy to help if I can.

Agree with you guys. I honestly had low expectations for it. If you ever liked these guys, it takes you back to why you did in the first place. Very happy that it wasn't a half hearted money grab. It is a well done, solid rock album and a whole hearted money grab.

A good strategy is to first, pick your interest- in this case, UT football. Then, pick 3-4 journalists who cover UT, find them on Twitter, and follow everyone on their follow list.
More interested in Vol fans from here. (and opposing fans that post here also)

I love reading threads like that where opposing fans go from cocky to nervous to pissed to defeated. I also love the predictable "well that team shouldn't be happy... We suck so bad... They should be up more... Their conference will rape them" posts.
It is a very entertaining read. Even if it is predictable. I knew it was gonna be fun when one of them predicted a 42-3 win. It was that point when I realized they had no clue who they were about to play.

So i'm following. If you ever tweet, I'll read it. If not, that's cool too.
Almost never tweet as well. Right now the only active college fb fan I am following is a friend who loves Vandy. So. There's that.

I am very impressed with Graham and glad we have him. No doubt our running game is improved, but this was only one game vs. a weak rush d.
Wasn't implying otherwise. Just observing that there are people that know and notice things in the game that I don't.

It may be wishful thinking, but it seemed to me that Jay Graham has had an effect on the RBs and there appears to be a purpose and attack plan. Haven't really gone back and watched, but last night got the distinctive feeling that we were finally running "downhill" Of course then I came here and remembered that I have no clue what I saw.

Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Breaking Bad= best TV show ever

Yes. By a country mile. And I love Dexter. Before this season, Lost was my favorite show ever. But I think BB has now surpassed it.
Agree on Breaking Bad. Dexter is a great show, but BB is in a class all it's own. I didn't realize what a great actor Bryan Cranston was until this show. If you compare his characters on Malcolm in the Middle and BB it is very apparent how good he is. Not to take anything away from the supporting cast. It is a well written and well acted show from top to bottom in my opinion. (I would be very interested in VolVeeta's take on this fwiw)

Wow, I immediately have much more respect for the guy. I had pretty much formed an opinion of him, with his silly antics and all.
Was about to reply with the same statement, Vinnie. Thanks for posting this BDV. wouldn't have known what a class act that guy is without it.
