The last 33 minutes or so of the game against uag(ly) after we spotted them 24-7 and came back to hang 51 on them. As a side note, almost got a blimp ride that night Emeril and I were sitting so high By the end of the game, Orange out numbered red in the stands at least 2-1.

Bill Duff stuffs Eddie George.
I blame my cousin, as the play went to the right, instead of behind their All American tackle on the left side. "No sir! He did NOT make it! They POUNDED him!!" All I know is that was the 2nd most miserable game I sat through due to rain. The most miserable, the shelacking by UF in the rain where I think we fumbled the snap about 100 plays running - I blame BayVol.

Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Meyer vs Muschamp

When FL hired Meyer, I was concerned, because I felt that he would be very successful there. he had the offensive background, and had really been the architect of some fine offensive teams. He ended up being more successful than I thought he'd be.
Muschamp - I don't get the same feeling. I get the impression that he's an overrated defensive coach who gets by on brawn and a lot of bravado, but I don't get the feeling he's going to be a good head coach. I don't think he will mesh with Weis either. No, it's not wishful thinking - just the impression I have of what's going to happen there.
Anyone else feel this way?
EDIT: GOT the server msg twice trying to make this post. Third time's the charm!
I agree with ReVOLver in that I think he will be successful. Weiss can be a wild card but on the other hand I think he can be a very successful OC and he can develop QBs. I know my gator friends are very pleased to date with what they have seen.

In terms of an amazing play, has to be Mose Phillips TD. I think he broke about 9 tackles on that run
In terms of meaning, I'd say Peerless's TD that put us up 20-9 in the 4th qtr vs FSU in the 99 fiesta bowl.
"Phillips running through, around, over and underneath defenders from South Carolina takes the ball all the way home for a miraculous touchdown ..." One of my favorite calls by John

Adjusting to the package is one thing, adjusting to the play called by the D is another. You could have the same personnel execute a blitz or drop back in coverage. You might even try to associate a package with a particular play early in the game only to change it late. It seems to me that coaching will determine how successful or not the package approach is. I would not call it a "gimmick". The NFL does it that way all the time. An example of how NOT to do it....put Leake in at QB and the whole WORLD, let alone stadium, knows he is going to run it. or put Bartly in the game on 3rd and long when you know he is going to throw it, like last year ...

On the depth chart right now Bohannon is listed at #1 DE opposite Jacques Smith and he supposedly had a great offseason, but I read the other day on VQ that Walls was getting the first team reps ahead of Bohannon. Both of those guys will be in the first four.
Fowlkes is listed at 2nd team DE. I'm guessing he won't make much of an impact. It would be ideal if Martin could stay healthy and supplant him there. The hot name so far in camp is Trevaris Saulsberry... if he and Couch can be the third and fourth tackles with Malik Jackson and Hood (and Ayres providing depth) then we might see Corey Miller slide back out to DE.
Honestly, I think this team rises and falls with newcomers on defense and staying healthy. Offensively, we have enough to compete all over the field. Defensively, we need Couch, Saulsberry, AJ Johnson, Curt Maggit, Christian Harris, and Byron Moore to all be bigtime. I think we're really only two bodies away at DL but those freshman LBs are going to have to step up if we are going to exceed that 8 win expectation.
I think we will play a lot of 4-2-5 this year with Brewer playing a hybrid LB/DB position. But your point that the FR LBs need to step up is well taken.
