Yes overrated. Haven't played anyone worth a dam, and the best teams (using the term loosely) you have played have been in Athens.
I think you will beat Mizzou, they are just as overrated or maybe even more overrated than you, but I think either the Vols or Ole Miss have a legit shot at your overrated asses.
And you know what? ESPN analytics agrees with me. Ole Miss is 30%, we are 34%. Those are both ~ 1 in 3. Pretty good odds actually.
Oh and I forgot to add...90th in SOS. NINTEY-ITH! That's pathetic.
Ok, if you truly believe that UGA is overrated, where do believe they should be rated? Keep in mind where the coaches, the AP media, and the CFP committee have UGA rated as you make up your mind. 28 straight wins (which ties the Bear and Gene Stallings for most ever in the SEC). 43 of the last 44. Going for 3 consecutive national championships this season. When you tune in UGA football games this season, you are witnessing history being made. BTW, UGA doesn't just win because of the blue chip index. It develops its talent and coaches them on game day. Otherwise, UGA would be just another Texas A&M. Also, it now appears that Josh has a Kirby problem. When you look at Josh's high flying offense, it becomes grounded when he faces UGA's defense. The UTk scoring trend under Josh against UGA: 2021: 17 2022: 13 2023: 10 Kirby has solved Josh's offense. He is Josh's kryptonite. Josh wants to spread everyone out wide, so he can run the ball. And make people pay when they go 1x1. But UGA has the DB talent to play 1x1, unlike most others. They cover with their backs to the ball, and they tackle in space. And that allows UGA to play UT honest in the box in regards of the run game. Josh has to evolve his offense, or the results won't change.

A couple of stats from The Sports Source Vol podcast. You don't want to trail at the half, and you don't want to fall behind by 11+ points.

I think your overrated program is very likely to lose one of those three. I don't think Mizzou is likely but either Ole Miss or THE VOLS in Neyland can whip the curs.
You haven't played anyone. 96th worst schedule in the country. WWFDY
Overrated? Gimme a break. 25 game winning streak. 20 consecutive weeks as AP #1, and counting. Two-time defending national champion. 42-1 since UGA's last regular season loss. That last regular season loss was to UF in 2020. Since then, UGA is 22-0 against the SEC East, with an average margin of victory of 23.7 points. Resiliant: Georgia is a perfect 8-0 when trailing at any point in a game during the last two seasons. Haven't played anyone? Who have we beaten? Everyone. Who have we lost to? No one. When you are the best, it doesn't matter if the other teams are second best or 96th best. If you're not first, you're last. Dawgs by fiddy!

If Mizzou upsets uga this weekend, and we win out, then we will either be tied with uga and own the tie breaker, or be in a 3-way tie with MIzzou and uga, and be 2-0 against those two teams so again win the tiebreaker It would be like what LSU did last year in the West Like I said....there is a CHANCE What?! UGA isn't going to lose to Mizzou this weekend. UGA isn't going to lose to Ole Miss the following weekend. And UGA absolutely, positively isn't going to lose to UTk on 11/18. Let's just keep it real simple. UGA isn't going to lose. (Lawd have mercy!)

These kind of antics used to bother me, but I just shrug it off these days. There are all kinds of kids who don't have commitable offers from UGA, who commit to other schools over school x, school y and.. UGA. I guess it makes their decision appear more special if they throw out "runner up" names such as UGA, Bama, UT, OSU, etc.

1. 27-13. Probably the biggest game in Sanford Stadium history. AP & Coaches #1 vs. CFP #1. At the end, the Dawgs left no doubt who was #1. Physical domination, game control throughout. Nah Erik, Sanford doesn't get all that loud.
2. 65-7. A natty that I could enjoy. No anxiety at all. Physical domination and game control throughout. Winning a natty is HARD, but the Dawgs made this look easy. By the way, what did this game say about Michigan?
3. 49-3. So, Oregon was supposed to be a test. Physical domination and game control. After losing all those 1st rounders, and 15 overall to the draft, this was UGA's statement game. Dawgs didn't rebuild, they reloaded. And Stetson was in complete comfort and control.
4. 42-41. Oh my, the Peach Bowl. Down double-digits in the 4th, these Dawgs would not quit. When they had to make plays, they did. And they had to make every single one late in the game to pull it out. Yes, we were lucky as hell when the clock struck midnight, but OSU knows better than to put it all on the line with a kicker.
5. 48-7, at USCe. For some reason, a few Bama fans over the summer were warning us about going on the road and playing Spencer Rattler. Telling us this was a trap game. Dawgs responded with physical domination, and pure game control. Broke their spirit on the road. Yeah, these Dawgs can hunt.
Honorable mentions:
LSU/SECC: Win put UGA in 2nd place by itself in regards of most SEC football championships. First TD from blocked FG was very strange, at least to the LSU FG defense who apparently weren't coached up on the live kick rules. UF, beat our biggest rival by 3 TDs. But lost game control for most of the 3rd quarter, which was strange. AU, beat another rival by 32 at home. Physical domination and game control. Mizzou, squeaked out a win on the road. Made clutch plays in the 4Q when there was no margin for error. Weird game, which was a FG fest for 3 quarters.

Look, I know your sports calendar goes on an 8 month hiatus in early January, but SOME schools compete for championships year-round. Maybe take a walk over to your baseball stadium right now to see what that’s like. No doubt, it is a long 4.5 months between our spring game and kickoff in September. But you can have all of the championships from the tiddly-wink Olympic sports. (Not sure which ones the Vols have won?) Football is where its at, for UGA. And I'm totally good with it.

I would imagine it's the easiest schedule any SEC team has played in a long, long time. They've had it easy for a while now, schedule-wise, but this season takes the cake. Thoughts and prayers to them from 2024 on. But Kirby's never really shied away from playing tougher OOC opponents since he's been at UGA. Sometimes stuff happens (covid season, SEC canceling the OU series, etc.), but UGA has pretty much played a respectable OOC schedule since 2016 - except for this year. Most UGA fans prefer to play a nationally-recognized opponent during the regular season. I will say this - the upcoming 12-team playoff will make the regular season less important by comparison. A 4-team playoff means that you can't hardly screw up during the regular season, or your not making the CFP. The 12-team era will provide more cushion. We'll start to see some 2-loss at-large teams make the 12-team CFP field. Most notable OOC UGA opponent each year: 2016: UNC 2017: at ND 2018: GT 2019: ND 2020: N/A (covid season) 2021: Clemson (Charlotte) 2022: Oregon 2023: GT 2024: Clemson (ATL) 2025: at UCLA 2026: UCLA 2027: at FSU 2028: FSU 2029: at Clemson 2030: Clemson, Ohio St. 2031: at Ohio St. 2032: Clemson 2033: at Clemson

We will beat UGa, Bama and UF this year. Book it.
I know that's sarcasm, but at least ot is possible. That hasn't been true in a long time. You aint wrong. I would not be surprised if we beat them all. Or if we lost to them all. That would be disappointing though. I don't think we lose to UF.
The Vols should beat UF. I don't believe your team will beat Bama on the road, but it could happen. But there is no way the Vols are beating the Dawgs this season. This one is already circled on the calendar, and Kirby will make this a statement game. Go Dawgs!

is to repeat with another natty! As David Pollack said to Nick Saban a week ago, UGA has taken hold of college football. Dawg fans don't have to reminisce anymore for the glory days. These are the glory days. Given our 2023 schedule, I like our chances at a three-peat! About the only regular season opportunity to stumble is November 18th at Sanford North! Good luck to the Vols until then. Go Dawgs!

Sports / VTTW Message Board / So, the Orange people come to play ‘tween the Hedges tomorrow..
|

Vol fans everywhere are riding high, drunk on their first CFP #1 ranking, all the while suffering from irrational exuberance dating back to the third Saturday in October. It is now even infecting some national media types and CFP committee members.
But it all ends tomorrow.
UT-Knoxville has had a nice little run this season, taking advantage of impaired LSU and Florida teams, as they should have. And somehow, Bama forgot how to play defense. Vol fans should be happy and proud of what Chumley and his troops have accomplished so far. But the Georgia Bulldogs are the reigning National Champions, undefeated and looking to repeat. The road to Atlanta goes through Athens this year (and pretty much every year), and this is where the buck stops for the Vols.
No way is UT-Knoxville going to win tomorrow’s football game.
I could throw around some meaningless national stat rankings.. Scoring offense: UT-Knoxville 1, UGA 6 Scoring defense: UT-Knoxville 26, UGA 2 Total offense: UT-Knoxville 1, UGA 2 Total defense: UT-Knoxville 80, UGA 4 .. but stats don’t win games.
I could look to UGA’s 5-game winning streak against UT-Knoxville; each game won by no less than 3 TDs. But history doesn’t win games.
I could point to home field advantage, or how loud the crowd will be. Or recruiting rankings. Or that the Vegas sharps have UGA as an 8pt fave. But that is all just noise.
UGA will beat UT-Knoxville tomorrow, because UGA is the better team. Look for UGA to beat UT-Knoxville like it stole something, which it has: the CFP #1 ranking. That is disrespectful, and to a man, UGA knows it. In other words, WWFDT!
To Vols everywhere, I wish you safe travels to Athens and back. Just remember, the Sugar Bowl is not a bad consolation prize.
Go Dawgs! Sic ‘em! Woof, woof, woof.
