Title: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: murfvol on December 04, 2023, 04:20:33 EST I'm sorry to see Luttrell depart, but he got no PT.
My main question is how much effort went into acquiring those who depart? It was non-value added. Then factor in the cost and time to find replacements. Everyone can't, and shouldn't be retained, but is it cheaper to keep an o.k. player than find a new one? Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: PirateVOL on December 04, 2023, 06:35:27 EST I'm sorry to see Luttrell depart, but he got no PT. Brandon Turnage is in the portalMy main question is how much effort went into acquiring those who depart? It was non-value added. Then factor in the cost and time to find replacements. Everyone can't, and shouldn't be retained, but is it cheaper to keep an o.k. player than find a new one? He hardly saw the field, even when we played a walkon at Star in the last 2 games head scratcher Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: Tnphil on December 04, 2023, 06:50:31 EST Lutrell didn't seem to have what it takes in this league....In fact we have several that don't have what's needed in this league. We are a good ways away from competing for a SECC. We are a long ways off from having a defense that competes for a SECC.
Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: murfvol on December 04, 2023, 08:14:14 EST Turnage didn't seem to be a difference maker.
Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: PirateVOL on December 04, 2023, 08:22:39 EST Turnage didn't seem to be a difference maker. 2 years ago he played pretty good (remember the Mizzou game?) and last year, between injuries, he was serviceable. This year he was a total non factor the 2nd half of the season and of limited use early in the season Sure he had injuries, but he seemed to regress Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: PirateVOL on December 04, 2023, 10:00:50 EST Conner Meadows will seek safer EP opportunities
Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: Cobbvol on December 04, 2023, 10:08:09 EST Addison Nichols enters the portal.
Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: PirateVOL on December 05, 2023, 12:34:18 EST Addison Nichols enters the portal. One of the more hyped OLs in fall practiceHe was really hyped as the B/U for Coop at center Ended up 4th string behind a walkon, Ball Just didn't pan out thought he did "ok" at LG against vandy when pressed into service But in the week before that game he was rumoured to be a leading candidate to enter the portal That being said, on the outside looking in, I'd like for him to stick around another year I think the potential is still there Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: Tnphil on December 05, 2023, 02:38:38 EST Our OL and DB evaluations haven't been very good.
Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: murfvol on December 05, 2023, 04:24:45 EST Hate to see Nichols leave. However, Campbell is back. That is huge.
Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: PirateVOL on December 08, 2023, 11:13:49 EST Tyler Barron and Slaughter to the protal
Barron I can see. He can go pro but looking for a large increasded NIL deal to stay in college Me thinks he is over valuing himself a bit Personal feeling is he may return, with an increased NIL or go pro, depending on evaluation, which I think will be good Slaughter I don't understand He didn't play well enough to warrant a large NIL increase IMO Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: 10EC on December 09, 2023, 02:51:24 EST Tyler Barron and Slaughter to the protal The thing about this I would like to know is what happens immediately after a player announces portal. - No more team meetings - No more meals - No weight room I?m curious the immediate consequence. Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: PirateVOL on December 09, 2023, 03:05:36 EST The thing about this I would like to know is what happens immediately after a player announces portal. I think the anser is it depends- No more team meetings - No more meals - No weight room I?m curious the immediate consequence. Within the quarter meals would continue Sometimes the exit interview results in a portal entry (see our OL players in the portal as well as Burrell (IMO) I think in those cases it's a mixture I think weight room would be available If they depart on their on - see ya I thin Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: 10EC on December 09, 2023, 06:57:34 EST Within the quarter I remember quarters. They were the best. They flipped to Semesters my Jr Year. Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: BanditVol on December 09, 2023, 07:07:47 EST I remember quarters. They were the best. They flipped to Semesters my Jr Year. Me too! We were there at the same time, apparently. What was your major? Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: BanditVol on December 09, 2023, 07:08:21 EST Barron....no! Don't wanna lose that guy. :banghead:
Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: 10EC on December 09, 2023, 08:07:08 EST Me too! We were there at the same time, apparently. What was your major? Accounting. Went right after and got my Masters in it as well although I am an IT guy. Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: BanditVol on December 09, 2023, 08:37:22 EST Accounting. Went right after and got my Masters in it as well although I am an IT guy. Oh okay. I was in Dobb's major. Aerospace Engineering. Was a junior in 87-88, I think they did the transition in 88-89, but I was a junior two years in a row because I was a co-op student. I graduated in 90. If you were a business major, you were probably one of the guys I always heard talking about what to do the rest of the day when walking home from class. I was always studying...business majors were always like "should we sun on the roof of Carrick? Go to the strip? Hang out at Gus's". Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: 10EC on December 10, 2023, 12:00:49 EST Oh okay. I was in Dobb's major. Aerospace Engineering. You were one of the nerds who couldn?t get laid? Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: FLVOL on December 10, 2023, 01:16:49 EST ....... I am an IT guy. We've talked about you being in IT, but what your specialization?? You probably told me, but my memory seems to be fading  Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: 10EC on December 10, 2023, 02:09:01 EST We've talked about you being in IT, but what your specialization?? You probably told me, but my memory seems to be fading  Business Systems. I own the HR systems for 8 bottlers across the US. About 60,000 employees. SAP, SuccessFactors and various bolt-ons. I consider myself very lucky. In the middle of my Junior year at UT, I took an accounting systems class. It was hard as hell but I loved it. My job today is really just a macro version of that same class. You are in Networking, right? Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: PirateVOL on December 10, 2023, 03:06:58 EST My specialty?
Glad you asked RETIRED! Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: droner on December 10, 2023, 03:12:44 EST I'm with you.
RETIRED! Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: 10EC on December 10, 2023, 03:34:20 EST I'm with you. RETIRED! I have a 15 y/o still. 7 more years. Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: BanditVol on December 10, 2023, 04:21:48 EST I get it?. You were one of the nerds who couldn?t get laid? In college? You had to go out of your way to avoid it actually. :naughty: I had many friends who did avoid it for religious reasons, and I admire them for doing so. Not an easy thing to give up! Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: FLVOL on December 10, 2023, 05:00:43 EST You are in Networking, right? LAN Infrastructure project management. I've been assisting US Attorney offices move from one site to another, rolling out server deployments, ect for the last two years, and a few weeks ago I was pegged as the program manager for shutting down the DOJ's main data center and moving 1500 miles away That should keep me occupied until 2025, then it's time to give notice and focus on building furniture Title: Re: Transfer Portal Exfil Post by: FLVOL on December 10, 2023, 05:01:52 EST |
