I'm sorry to see Luttrell depart, but he got no PT.

My main question is how much effort went into acquiring those who depart? It was non-value added. Then factor in the cost and time to find replacements. Everyone can't, and shouldn't be retained, but is it cheaper to keep an o.k. player than find a new one?

Brandon Turnage is in the portal
He hardly saw the field, even when we played a walkon at Star in the last 2 games

Lutrell didn't seem to have what it takes in this league....In fact we have several that don't have what's needed in this league. We are a good ways away from competing for a SECC. We are a long ways off from having a defense that competes for a SECC.

Turnage didn't seem to be a difference maker.

Turnage didn't seem to be a difference maker.
2 years ago he played pretty good (remember the Mizzou game?) and last year, between injuries, he was serviceable.
This year he was a total non factor the 2nd half of the season and of limited use early in the season

Sure he had injuries, but he seemed to regress

Addison Nichols enters the portal.
One of the more hyped OLs in fall practice

He was really hyped as the B/U for Coop at center
Ended up 4th string behind a walkon, Ball
Just didn't pan out

thought he did "ok" at LG against vandy when pressed into service
But in the week before that game he was rumoured to be a leading candidate to enter the portal

That being said, on the outside looking in, I'd like for him to stick around another year
I think the potential is still there

Hate to see Nichols leave. However, Campbell is back. That is huge.

Tyler Barron and Slaughter to the protal

Barron I can see.
He can go pro but looking for a large increasded NIL deal to stay in college
Me thinks he is over valuing himself a bit
Personal feeling is he may return, with an increased NIL or go pro, depending on evaluation, which I think will be good

Slaughter I don't understand
He didn't play well enough to warrant a large NIL increase IMO

The thing about this I would like to know is what happens immediately after a player announces portal.
- No more team meetings
- No more meals
- No weight room

I?m curious the immediate consequence.

I think the anser is it depends
Within the quarter meals would continue

Sometimes the exit interview results in a portal entry (see our OL players in the portal as well as Burrell (IMO)
I think in those cases it's a mixture
I think weight room would be available

If they depart on their on - see ya
I thin

Oh okay. I was in Dobb's major.  Aerospace Engineering.  Was a junior in 87-88, I think they did the transition in 88-89, but I was a junior two years in a row because I was a co-op student.  I graduated in 90.

If you were a business major, you were probably one of the guys I always heard talking about what to do the rest of the day when walking home from class.  I was always studying...business majors were always like "should we sun on the roof of Carrick?  Go to the strip?  Hang out at Gus's".

Business Systems.  I own the HR systems for 8 bottlers across the US.  About 60,000 employees.

SAP, SuccessFactors and various bolt-ons.  I consider myself very lucky.  In the middle of my Junior year at UT, I took an accounting systems class.  It was hard as hell but I loved it.  My job today is really just a macro version of that same class.

You are in Networking, right?

I get it?. You were one of the nerds who couldn?t get laid?

In college?  You had to go out of your way to avoid it actually.

I had many friends who did avoid it for religious reasons, and I admire them for doing so. Not an easy thing to give up!
