I am excited but just in the aspect that I think we are progressing in the right direction. I have said and will continue to say that 8-4 is the ceiling for this team. As we all know there is too much youth and still shy on depth in a lot of places especially in the front 7.

I still say the Cincinnati game will tell us what type of potential this team has. If we struggle with them or lose it will be a 6-6 season at best. Bray has got to be really good for us to hit 8-4 this year. If he can be accurate on the intermediate routes and minimize his mistakes he should have a good year.

It was likely those "ounces" that kept him from realizing his complete potential. 

What I like is everything I am hearing from the players about how much better the o-line looks than last year.

Dooley said recruiting in-state talent is high on his list.

"I hope that you guys know how supportive we are of high school football, especially in this state," Dooley said. "I'm real proud of the fact that we signed seven guys last year from Tennessee. We want to sign a bunch of guys from Tennessee."

A little optimistic?!

I think the only way Dooley fails is if his bosses get in the way. Fans will be fans but with what he has done so far I don't see how he can't succeed. I don't know what this year will bring but I think we are 10+ win team next year.

Glad for him and I wish him the best, but i don't see how he makes the team or even the practice squad. Too small and slow for the NFL IMHO.

That is gonna happen. He is going to see really quick what kind of job he has in front of him.

If he will play hard for Belechik (however you spell it) they will be stout on defense again.

I'll admit to not being fully aware of how the NCAA's proceedings work. But remember the GaTech AD may have ruined his career by clueing in his coaches that their programs were being investigated. It could be that UT's administrators and legal counsel weren't permitted to tell Pearl and his staff about the photo.

If they told him the day of his questioning by the NCAA then why could they have not before hand. The result is the same......Pearl got the info before the interview. The whole thing stinks and the biggest stink of all was if he had fessed up that day we would not be having this conversation.

No wonder our programs have suffered, out athletic department was dysfunctional.

Bruce Pearl's attorney said Monday that the former Tennessee basketball coach and his staff were made aware of a troublesome photo on the day of their 2010 interviews with the NCAA enforcement staff.

Mike Glazier, the outside counsel hired by UT, however, knew about the photo six days in advance, according to the university's official response to the NCAA's Notice of Allegations.

The photo, taken in September 2008, showed prospect Aaron Craft and Pearl during Craft's unofficial visit to Knoxville.

Meyer will always be a target for Vol fans because he coached the slimy crocs.
